In October I'm giving a faculty recital. One of the pieces I'm doing is a transcription of Modeste Mussorgsky's piano masterpiece, Pictures at an Exhibition. I've been immersing myself with a recording. So right now I have the movement, The Limoges (Marketplace) running through my head.

"Your sauce will mix with ours, and we'll make a good goulash with it!  Dio, time to go, you must give your cape and scepter - to me!"

Now it's in my head, grr...

A new song by Audioslave, "Original Fire." Very catchy.

"Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent. I have no idea why that song jumped in my head this morning...but you know what? Olivia Newton John's, "Have You Never Been Mellow?" is trying to beat it into submission (thanks a lot, John).

If I can't get a terrible song stuck in one person's head a day, I don't feel as
though I've done my job.

Today it's Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You."

"...is easy 'cause you're beautiful..."

It's not a gaming website.

It's a collection of Flash videos.

Click the link and press "WATCH THIS MOVIE!"

Wait, what?

Was that sarcasm?

God damn it I hate the internet.

Never know when someone's being sarcastic or not.

See, that's why I'm a fan of emoticons.  Not the overuse of them that happens all too often, but the well-chosen occasional usage.  Eliminate somebody taking a joke the wrong way, and you having to come back with a "I was joking!" post, eliminates "was that sarcasm?" posts, etc.

Paul was dead by then, John, you know that.

For me, the dreaded song is Don't talk to strangers by Rick Springfield.

"All Night Long" by Lionel Ritchie.  The horn section of this one sometimes morphs into the horn section for "Late in the Evening" by Paul Simon.  So kinda cool song going in, AWESOME song coming out.

Speaking of transformations, the Beach Boys's "Little Deuce Coup" keeps
transforming into "I'm In To Something Good" by Herman's Hermits for me.

"She's my little deuce coup
You don't know what I got
(Something tells me I'm into something,
Something tells me I'm into something...)"

Speaking of John speaking of transformations, last week, three (of the four) members of my band practiced for the first time in over a year. The bass player--who owns all the sound equipment--forgot to get the microphones from the church that borrowed them, so we just sat around and played sans vox. We decided to start off with some KISS songs, and--just about every time--one segued into another (by accident) between verse and chorus. Without anyone singing the vocals/melody, those early KISS songs are incredibly similar.
