Like everyone else who has weighed in so far, I admire this drawing. I'm
wondering, JB, if you have a favorite version of the Hulk? Kirby's own version
of the Hulk's face changed radically, and I think, for the worse, as he kept
getting prettier. In my view, he was at his ugly best toward the end of the
run in his own magazine, and in his first appearance in the FF, with those
ugly, crooked teeth.

JB is that a page you own? Also do you have anything else "green" on the commission agenda today?

I love how JB seems to put so much strength in every part of the Hulk's figure. Every muscle in his body seems to be screaming with energy.

I'd love to have it in my collection That was the first issue of THE INCREDIBLE HULK that I bought as a kid, and that page, especially those three central panels, still blow me away. I'd cheerfully trade the two pages I have to add that single page to my collection. As to green things -- nothing else today, but later in the week…

I grew up in the 70's and so the simple minded, child-like HULK is the one I grew up with. JB do you have any idea why they we went from the HULK in the page up above to the simple minded HULK?

I only own one page of original art from THE INCREDIBLE HULK series--and it's a page from JB's first run.
It's from #318. The page where Banner has two holographic images of the Hulk standing side by side: on the left is the Hulk of 1962--the image that later became the cover corner symbol--and on the right is the Hulk of 1986.
The second I knew it was possible for me to own that page, I made it happen!

Nice piece.
What I like about it in particular is that the savagery of the Hulk's
appearance is so bang-on without tons of busted up stuff (i.e.
rocks, machinery, villians) all around him.
I imagine that it must have been an extra-challenge to pull this off.

Read the six issues of the Hulk's original run, and the characterization is all over the map. Later, Stan and other writers continued floundering around until the Hulk you were introduced to turned up and the process seemed to stabilize there.

Originally the customer wanted some "props", but when told this would add to the price, asked for just the figure -- but still wanted a powerful, savage Hulk.
