Beautiful piece, Chief! (it must be to get me to come out of lurker-stasis).
Great commission too -- love these pieces cuz they reind me of the
"good old days" comics I loved to read so much.

Comment: I must say that I am surprised more people don't commission
crossover-type pieces. When I saw the title my first thought was "Cool!
Someone's commissioned Batman vs. The Green Goblin!".

Not that it matters much but if I could afford it I'd be commissioning
things that have rarely or never been seen...

Question: If Hal Jordan's ring's weakness was yellow, how did he ever
beat Sinestro? Not looking for a thread-drift here -- more of a
rhetorical...

As I said, beautiful piece!

As you were.

It's like -- I'll be at a party, and find myself talking about what I do for a living, and a name like "Doctor Doom" will float from my lips, and for just a moment, surrounded by civilians, I get a brief disconnect, and a flash of how goofy a name like that probably sounds to someone not steeped in the lore (or, preferably, a kid). Then my brain clicks back to the proper setting, and all is once again right with the world.

==================================

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago.  I was wearing my Green Lantern t-shirt, and my girlfriend asked what the symbol meant.  By way of explanation, I mentioned it was the symbol of the super-hero called Green Lantern and then recited the Green Lantern Oath to briefly encapsulate what the hero is all about.  As I was about half-way through it, I thought, "This must sound incredibly silly to her."  Then I realized I still thought it was really cool anyway.

JB, I know you have heard this a thousand times but I wish that you were on a JLA monthly. This is outstanding.

Man, why can't they make a comic book like that commission?

I'm jealous...

BTW, that "actual size" detail image of Sinestro was HUGE on my screen.  Is this piece really that big?!

Your obvious affection for the Green Lantern really shines here, JB.

The folks who christened Ultimate Doom must've had a similarly uncomfortable moment and afterwards decided to provide relief to us all with the name "Victor Van Damme."  Problem is, that's the one that sounds so stupid I can't say it aloud...
