Great piece!!

By the way, mr. Byrne, how did you do the sparkle/energy effect? You inked in black and left the desired areas untouched, used masking fluid, used white on top of the black, or any other method?

thanks.

Great piece once again!

Eric, I don't see a thumb in that at all.  The pinky finger looks large in relation to the others, perhaps, but to me it looks like it's simply due to the angle of the hand bracing against the wreckage.

Still, I've never had a null-prize, so on the off chance that you're right about this, I'm going to say Thanos used the soul gem to alter reality and reverse Tony Stark's hands, making his abilities as an engineer incredibly difficult for him to access.  Very psychologically debilitating for someone like Stark.  And a blow to his natural vanity.  That Thanos is an evil, evil entity!!

Awesome, JB! I daresay it looks like you've nailed a bit of a Tom Palmer vibe with your inking of this piece.

Best of the three. "Wow!," was my first reaction as well. It looks more a
piece from George Perez.

The rendering on Cap's costume is phenomenal.

Is the inking all with Pitt brush pen?

••

Correct.

This is my own version of Kirby Krackle, and it points up here something I
have emphasized before, and something which many artists, attempting the
same effect, get wrong. Concentrating on "all the little dots" of Kirby
Krackle they miss the important point that is is the negative space that
is defined by those "dots" that makes the effect work.

Holy crap!!!!

That's one SUH-WEEET picture. JB - methinks you've outdone yourself (yet again) and Christos, HUGE congratulations to a very VERY wonderful JB triptych (you really need that fourth resting day post script though... and once they've rested, well, you know, so many more baddies to tangle with...).

Have to admit that, as a huge fan of Thanos as a character, I am thrilled that it panned out this way and that he wasn't exchanged for Darkseid. JB, while you may have no great affection for Thanos, you sure as heck don't show that in portraying him. One of the best depictions I've ever seen. Truly.

O and that Thor... the grandeur of Thor cannot get grander than in JB's hands (sure Kirby could and Simonson can match that intensity for sure, but heck it's an even match).

My hat is firmly of for you, master Byrne! And once more, HUGe congrats, Christos.
