The Big Lebowski

Great Movie

"My only hope is that the big Lebowski kills me before the Germans can cut my dick off."

The Thing, with commentary by Carpenter and Russell, still the best way to watch that movie.

I just watched Nosferatu last night.  Interesting!  I was surprised at how similar it was to Dracula.  I'd heard it was basically an unlicensed adaptation of Stoker's material but I didn't know it was that much like it.  I think it clocks in as the oldest movie (1922) I've ever watched by a full seven years!  I don't think I'd sit and watch the whole thing again but it was nice to finally see.

THE BUCKET LIST was the last disc I had in.  I enjoyed it. Some people complained that it was a little heavy, but it had to be considering the subject matter.

Next up: CLOVERFIELD

I think this is a great thread to be the first sticky in the movie section.  We can continually talk about movies we've rented or bought and get ideas for things that are off the radar or blockbusters we missed the first time 'round.

So stickied it is!

One of my all time favorites.  My wife and I took that movie with us to the hospital to watch while waiting for the birth of our first child.

The Thing
*********

When I was in middle school a friend and I were watching it on cable.  His father came in and asked what the movie was about.  I said, "An orgasm that takes over people's bodies."  Realizing I said ORGASM instead of ORGANISM I was stuttering and stammering trying to correct myself.  It was one of those akward teenage moments.

Disc 2 of MAGNUM PI: Season 1. The show started pretty slow ( and I'm surprised at a) how many episodes from the first season I hadn't seen and b) there was another theme song for the first dozen episodes) but it's really picking up and has been becoming the show I remember and love.

Fight Club

Not long ago, JB asked if enough time had passed since 9/11. Given that this movie is about the very things that were targeted on 9/11, will enough time ever pass? Still, if you try to ignore Project Mayhem, its a strangely enjoyable movie.

Funniest thing to me: most people I talk to don't understand why the Narrator survives while Tyler utters those famous last words: "Whats that smell?"
