JB, just a quick question concerning your work in Weird Wonder Tales #22. On the splash page for the story “The World Below” the credits read “A Stan Lee-Jack Kirby Masterwork, Inks by Dick Ayers, with special thanks to Byrne, Novak, and Tartag” You previously have said that it is your splash page.   How did you come to work on this reprint? How often have you drawn Doctor Droom/Druid?

And, again, please everyone else wait for JB before joining the conversation.  Thanks.

I honestly have no memory of this. I'd have to see the page to see if it would jog my memory.

Wow. Still don't remember it. Must have been one of those fifteen-minutes-on-the-corner-of-the-editor's-desk jobs I used to get called on to do every time I visited the offices!

(It was easy to tell when I had visited NYC from Canada -- three or four months later there would be a flurry of covers and wotnot by me!)

The only thing that looks like you on that page, JB, is the fase in the foreground.

If it is a splash page tacked on to the begining of a reprint story, as in implied by Will, then I'd think both JB and the inker were trying to make the art look Kirby-esque for the sake of continuity.
