When did Havoc/Alex appear? Did Cyclops always have a mutant brother?

Somewhere around issue 54 o5 55. Not good with exact numbers, as many of you already know.

Alex is a good example of a card that needs to be played very cautiously. "The brother you never knew I had" is something that should be used only ONCE in a series, and most especially with a character. Once a character has had a Big Reveal like that, there should be no more. No son or daughter we didn't know s/he had, no secret spouses, no parents who are anything other than ordinary.

Most especially, when you have a character like Scott Summers, who has been shown to have a brother we didn't know about, who, despite not being a twin, has essentially the same power (just less focused), should not be shown to have all kinds of other skeletons in his closet.

The soap opera quality of this "lost relative" device, I'd usually dislike it severely -- yet, it does rather work for Scott Summers. His having found a brother seemed not to lessen his sense of being a loner as much as added a complexity to it that remained true to who Scott had been. 

I guess the fact that it worked well was a bad thing!

Dan: Corsair and The Star-Jammers?

I don't really think of the Star-Jammers when it comes to JB's run. They really didn't make much of an impression on me. I had a 70 character limit (JB added a few extra characters) and I was more interested in Nanny making the cut than the Star-Jammers.

I find this interesting: My girlfriend was looking at the commission last night -- identifying the (few) characters she knew. Storm was pointed out right away -- followed by the White Queen(?!) -- but that was it. She asked who Colossus was -- and she guessed Kitty was the "Invisible Girl". She looked at the drawing a long time and finally said, "this guy looks scary" (the biggest of the Sentinels).

White Queen???

I was starting to do it, but even though I recognize every character except one big giant on the far left side -- Is that Shadow King's astral form? -- I had trouble remembering the actual names to some of the Imperial Guard characters. Since I couldn't list them without looking their names up, I figured I'd stop.

It was fun for me to see the latest commission by JB, and somewhat coincidental as I had just scanned an old (1986) drawing of an X-Men montage I did while I was still in high school.

That puts you ahead of me! When I received Nathan's alphabetized list, I had to look up the Imperial Guard members in OHOTMU.

Also, for what it's worth, I would not have been able to name Amal Farouk or Donald Pierce -- at least, not without a whole lot of cogitating!

I have to stop staring at this as it's costing me work time. 

JB and Nathan - you guys sure do make beautiful music together.  Excellent concept and execution!!

Just seeing Jahf makes me smile every time.  I like that he's up front as his bit in JB's first issue was a favorite as a kid -- among a lot of fantastic moments.  This commission shows the characters that define the X-Men to me.  Those issues are an enormous part of my childhood.
