Is there a size limit for these grey tone commissions, JB?

••

No -- but remember, the bigger they are, the higher the cost.

Adding tones is, after all, a whole lot like drawing the piece TWICE.

The more you look at this, the more it amazes. Just been admiring the bigger scan and it blows me away and makes me a little sad it's not mine!

Very wary of declaring anything the best thing ever without due consideration, but this would have to stand out as a contender for the best commission ever I think.

That is gorgeous.

But hearing that Marvel could do NOTHING to get you back makes me really sad, JB.  When I see the kind of stuff Greg Land and Nick Bradshaw are doing on X-Men, it makes looking at a commission like this one even more bittersweet.

I would do cartwheels to my LCS at least once a month if you were drawing the X-Men, JB.

That is a beautiful commission.  Congrats to the commissioner.

Just fantastic! Words are not even coming to me on how much I love this commission. Really one of the best you have done, JB!

That's amazingly superb! I've always loved that page, but the layout
here is much more interesting and really fits the scene.

That's a home run JB!

I love how Wolverine turns around with the camera-- and he looks FILTHY.

What a FANTASTIC idea for a commission!

Technically eye-popping. Makes me now wish the X-Men had been rendered in this technique, without colors.

Unfortunately, this underscores my least favorite of all Byrne expressions:

Villains leering.

I ... cannot ... stand ... villains ... leering ... in ... victory.

I can so easily get into Wolverine's berserker state when I see that that from John. I don't know if he means to make them hateful to look at. If so, he succeeds admirably.

Love it. Especially the argle-bargle that makes up the texture of
Shaw's robe and (now don't laugh) the floor.

And that's the scene that made Wolverine one of my favourite characters...
Great!
