In the midst of a complimentary review, John Kirk said he likes the latest issue, even "Janice Rand’s uncharacteristic beehive hairstyle."

The hair I am giving Rand is more of a bob than a beehive. Dig it:

Actually, thanks for bringing that to my attention. it was a partial sentence that should have read "even Janice Rand’s uncharacteristic beehive hairstyle has been replaced by a more curtailed and attractive style."

What can I say? At 2am, things start to blur together. It was my wife's birthday, it was a full day at work and my article took me way into the wee hours.

Thanks again - I'll watch my editing in the future.

There is another one, for "only" $89 + shipping

I had press passes to NYCC and would have gladly picked that up. However, wife's birthday, daughter's birthday and Canadian Thanksgiving all make October a very busy month.

So I'll probably be one of the folks who pays for that!

I feel you are being rather ripped off to be honest.
I can understand because it is rare that it may cost more but at least I managed to get a copy for $25 dollars.

Speaking of rip-offs, somebody succeeded in getting William Shatner to sign a New Visions issue, with following results:

Well, that's almost like an invitation from William Shatner to read it.

I'd love to get an invitation from William Shatner for anything.

It would be spectacular to get him for a few new original photos for New Visions, perhaps to bookmark an issue as a recollection, in an Admiral's uniform and all...

He is 86 now.

Marten - Just to confirm, the humble bundle you reference is a physical copy of the Gorn story?

I missed out on the bundle and have been unable to find a physical copy anywhere.  You are the first person I have come across that mentioned they have it.  Part of me thinks it was just an electronic copy of the story, but I have not been able to confirm that.

Thankfully the story was included in volume 5 of the trade collections of this series, which I picked up,last week.  IDW does a nice job on releasing the collected editions on a regular schedule.

I've been thinking for three (!!) years now that it would be fun if I could persuade him to "appear" as Kirk's grandfather.

I received about a dozen of the con variant covers with my usual comps, yesterday. I wish there was some way to raffle them off, here in the JBF, but I fear at least some of them would end up on eBay with high price tags attached.

Then save them as gifts, John. Give them away to people you know will appreciate them.

I'm sure he would say yes to that. He's always up for new experiences. This would be novel.

Well, if all goes according to (tentative) plans, I may be intersecting with Shatner in the not-too-distant future, so I hope there will be an opportunity to discuss such things!

That's the sort of thing that gives me not only a degree of excitement, but hope as well.

There's an awesome story behind this photo.
