11" x 17" illustration of Guardian, no backgrounds; the details are:

- flying pose

- costume from cover of Alpha Flight # 1

please draw him smiling

That picture embodies the way a comic book hero should look.
Even the curl of his energy trail tells me he's one of the good guys.

Well done, JB. I like the details of the dark areas along the body of the suit.

It's interesting to see you shading the front of his helmet again. I recall you doing that more often in his pre-ALPHA FLIGHT appearances, but then switched to unshaded once the regular series started.

Based on Vinny's comment I googled the first issue cover, and was presented with another first issue cover, apparently drawn by someone who did not know Guardian's costume was the Canadian flag!

The title makes me wonder what a Guardian costume based on the Red Ensign would look like

A lot like the original Captain Britain, I expect!

I just googled Captain Britain, and I guess I should go easy on the American artists who can't draw the Canadian flag, since there seem to be legions of British artists who can't draw their own.

Funny, I've seen that cover before (I bought the issue and it was awful - hey, I tried), but I guess the atrociousness of it distracted me from ever noticing that the maple leaf was mangled....now I can't unsee it!
