What if the villain for the next season is a mysterious speedster with a deep scary voice that is eventually revealed to be a member of the team, say, Iris, or Joe? ;-)
Yes, I wouldn't like that, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the fourth season as I have enjoyed the previous ones.

They already said the villain will not be a speedster.

I'm hoping that next season's `big bad' isn't Killer Frost. Because the whole trying to get through to her, talking about how they're friends/family not working bit is getting old.

Though I'm beginning to wonder if Savitar is going to get defeated partially by Caitlin snapping out of it and turning on him.....

Why do I get the feeling that Danielle Panabaker isn't going to be in the cast next season? :-)

Well, that was a hell of an episode....

My thoughts:

INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):
It wasn't Iris that was killed, it was HR using an image inducer to make him look like Iris.  During the "fight" where Barry was trying to blast Savitar with the speed cannon, HR was able to take her place somehow.  His overwhelming guilt in revealing she was on Earth-2 pushed him to it.

My thoughts:

------

In relation to that, I thought that:

INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):
The scene where HR confesses his feelings to Tracy and asks her to
join Team Flash meant that one of them was doomed.

"My thoughts:"

...

Yeah...

INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):
The "'till we meet again" send off he said to Cisco  was rather ominous.

You guys might by on to something but here are a couple observations:

INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):

I don't think HR switched places with Iris, but I don't have any good reasons to support that yet. Although we know they have a transmorgifier(?)...ok image inducer....ha.

But, wasn't there a scene earlier in the season, when Wally was vibed to the future and HR was on the roof with some device? So I think more went on while we were focussed on Savitar and will come out right off the bat in the next season opener.

And HR definitely had an idea when he looked at the part of the Savitar armor that was in the case. What might that idea be?

EDIT: Wait, there is one more episode this season, right???

One thing that bothered me was Barry picking up Captain Cold from the
past. If you don't watch LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, it's easily glossed
over, but Snart was crucial to the Legends succeeding in their mission
in the first season. If Barry had let Snart die, it would have been more
disastrous than Flashpoint. Although I think they tried to ameliorate that
by suggesting Snart's heroic sacrifice was inspired by the Flash.

Also, since Savitar is one of the time remnants Barry creates to fight
Savitar in the future, why is no one suggesting taking away Barry's
powers to prevent Savitar from being born. It's a little extreme, but so is
destroying the timeline yet again.

I believe Joe was in the sniper position on the roof that HR was in when
Barry and Cisco vibed to the future.

ITEM: Michael Roberts, you're correct about Snart's role in LoT... but how would Barry know that? In context, it made sense.

ITEM: They know the EXACT DATE AND MOMENT AND LOCATION OF IRIS' DEATH. And they can do NOTHING about changing it?!?!? They had the right idea putting her on Earth-2 (see below), but maybe they could have put her on Earth-1... where she could have been protected by the DEO, Supergirl, Manhunter from Mars, the Guardian, Mon-El, maybe Superman... perhaps a little safer than Harrison Wells' lab.

Or as long as they were screwing around with time travel anyhow, why couldn't Barry just take Iris one day into the future? Skip May 23rd entirely? It couldn't foul up the past because it was occurring in the current time, and finding out about blond Dr. Don't-remember-her-name already changed what the future was going to be.

ITEM: They told "Flash" where Iris was, on Earth-2. Notwithstanding that telling that to Savitar wasn't very bright... the whole reason they moved her without telling Barry was because when they told Barry, Savitar would instantly "remember" it. Geez... I know H.R. is stupid, but HOW stupid does he have to be?!?!?

ITEM: Using the image transmogrifier might be a cheap out... but it WAS the gun on the wall in Act 1 in this series, it seems. Have to fire it by Act 3.

I don't recall the specifics about what Barry and Cisco know, but I
thought they knew he died a heroic death. He should have know that
pre-empting that would have consequences.

Eric, they're on Earth-1. Supergirl's Earth doesn't have a designation yet.

(And lets face it, Guardian and Mon-El would be next to useless in protecting Iris from Savitar.)

Brian Floyd - Guardian and Mon-El mightn't be very effective, but as opposed to H.R. and Joe's effectiveness? That's not a comment on their characters - that's an observation on their usefulness.

Michael, I just don't remember seeing it on screen, so I can't say that it happened. I mean, it's certain that they know about the Legends somewhat; they were able to summon them during the Invasion.

And in retrospect, one tiny piece of consistency that I LOVED - when Flash went back to get Snart, they used the LoT conceit of the date and location in the corner. I SO love continuity in the right manner.

This season may well be my last. The show has fallen
into a repetitive rut that goes far beyond the season-
long threat being an evil speedster.
The fact that somebody has to have a pep talk every
single episode is cheesy, lame and beyond repetitious.

The writing has taken a decline and at least in terms
of the science-fiction aspects, it was never that good
to begin with.

This episode's glaring example:

if Argus has a building with a "magic" (my
declaration, not theirs) power-dampening field that
eliminates all super powers regardless of how
different the powers are, or whether the powers are
scientific or magical in origin, etc, etc, than why
didn't they just keep Iris in that building for the
entire day that she is "supposed" to be killed by
Savitar?
Answer: because the show never puts that much depth of
thought into their stories.

Very disappointed with this show, the finale may be my
final episode.
