I didn't hate it.

(I know. Hard to believe, right?)

I'd prefer to think that this emblem was something Jonathan Kent designed when he played football for Smallville High and never showed to anyone before he gave it to Clark:

Tim, I have never heard of that "origin" version before. When was this used?

When I first heard about this show. I had low expectation for what was to come. I had absolutely no faith in the SYFY channel.  Based upon that trailer I'm interested in giving the show a try.

Looks interesting. I may give it a shot.

Curious, seeing that "peel" logo again. I thought it'd
been replaced.

Sam, partly from "Man of Steel," partly from my brother and me 30 years ago.

That looks more okay than I would have expected.  If this were a 'generic' sci-fi show I might watch it, but the connection to Superman makes me less interested.  Just as I avoided SMALLVILLE (and GOTHAM), I'm not interested in something from the Superman mythos that doesn't feature Superman.

Plus these shows always seem to be loaded with wink-wink, nudge-nudge moments that quickly grow tedious.

I was able to find this trailer elsewhere and it looks pretty interesting to me. I've always been interested in Krypton's past and really enjoyed the mini series World of Krypton by Mike Mignola and JB. It's one of the few concepts I think could really benefit as a prequel.

For now - Warner Bros is blocking the trailer on You Tube.

"If we show the events leading to the destruction of Krypton, you'll know we've completely run out of ideas"

Sound familiar?  :-)

IMDb is describing this as a redemption story. Cuz nobody's done THAT before.

I enjoyed JB's WORLD OF KRYPTON. Great story. But I have about as much interest in this as I do in GOTHAM: none whatsoever.

Krypton is a means of explaining why Superman has super-powers. That's really the short and long of it. Focusing extensively on Krypton is pointless. It's "window-dressing."

JB's take on Krypton was an improvement over that Silver and 'Bronze' Age drivel, especially the  '70s 'World Of Headbands/Krypton',usually by Elliot S (use a damn period, already)! Maggin,  in which the planet and guys with hyphenated names were plugged into weak science-fiction plots, usually with a clumsy 'flashback narrative device(Superman stopping to chat with Perry White mowing his lawn leads to a long-winded story about Jax-Ur's cousin Garden-Ur taming a fierce 'Kryptonian Grass-Beast' in the Scarlet Jungle).

I never enjoyed those either. Though I could've lived without a rebooted version of Krypton provided that (a) the look of Jor-El and Lara was revised at least somewhat, and (b) Krypton was relegated to past, for real this time, and no more stories about Krypton were ever printed.

Even returning Superman to being the Last Kryptonian wouldn't have required much of a reboot. Supergirl (Kara) was dead. The Kandorians were elsewhere -- just never mention them again, or say their existence was erased by CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS. The Phantom Zone villains? Kill them all off. (Have Lex Luthor do it, he'd surely enjoy it.)

And that's that. Very easy.

JB's take on Krypton really made the case that Superman is who he is BECAUSE of his being raised by the kind and decent Kents. I liked that.

The fact they drew a lot of inspiration from World of Krypton is good news, but in the same breath they add that they were also inspired by the Man of Steel film and that negates the good news. I did think this trailer looked pretty good though.

Yep. And contemporary Superman comics still make that pretty clear, even though Ma and Pa Kent are now both deceased.

Adam S. - are we sure they're dead? I'm not reading DC comics right now, but it seems kinda hard to tell who's alive and who's dead anymore.

And yes, if you detect a hint of sarcasm, you're right.
