I will have to take a look at my old comics to pick out three but something comes to mind right away: I like the quiet scenes best... a line of trees (I remember an Alpha Flight funeral that was just gorgeous), a building, a room (the inside of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum from Namor).

I'm having a difficult time deciding on two others to go with this, but a definite one is the moment in Critical Error where the astronaut deduces the dome because moons were setting but it didn't.

The very first scene that popped into my head when I saw the title of the thread was this:

I'll need to think of the other two, though.

SO many choices...

Okay, first runner-up is-
(THIS COMMENTED HAS BEEN DELAYED DUE TO A GOOD SMACK ON THE NOGGIN.)

One of them is Bruce Wayne and Steve Rogers realizing who they are battling in Batman/Captain America.

One is the final page of "Man of Steel."

And I suspect the last page of X-Men #132. The insanely triumphant gleam in Shaw's eyes... and of course,  "Now it's MY turn!".

Those will change with my next deep breath, but dang - those stick with me!

1. The "Nathan I'm cold" conclusion in JBNM
2. The "I am Sathanas" scene un JBNM
3. Susan Richards loses her child in FF #269

1. Magneto on the last page of X-Men #111
2. Superman flying way at the end of "Man of Steel"
3. This one is different and I don't recall the book, but in an Iron Fist comic Danny Rand was training and uses a speakerphone in his apartment. As a kid, I found this utterly fascinating. You could use a phone without using your hands? I wanted one so badly.

Here are the panels I mentioned on the first page of the thread.

Alpha Flight #13 page 1

I just love the quiet scenes and this one, in my opinion, is one of John's best.  No words were needed.

Great thread.

I loved the psychic battle between Wyndegarde and Cyclops that culminated in Cyclops dropping in the "real" world.

The goodbye between Scott and Jean just before she takes herself out.

The Beast seeing the Avengers alert and having to decide if his loyalty lies with the Avengers or the X-men.

1.  The last page of FF #238; Ben's regression to his early Thing form.

2.  Incredible Hulk #318; the green & gray Hulk comparisons.  This was a few months before I started collecting comics on a regular basis.  I remember flipping thru this issue at a casino in Jackpot, Nevada (I was 10, and hanging out in the gift shop) and going, "What does he mean the Hulk was gray??"

3.  Namor #10; pages where Namor gets out of the limo after catching a glimpse of Master Man on the street.  When he tells Namorita to head back to the hotel and makes reference to "A memory.  An old and painful memory."  Namorita then follows above him as he wanders the streets of Berlin and thought that he couldn't have been on this side of the city since the War.  I always get a haunted/nostalgic vibe, like watching a BBC war documentary that overlooks a city, subtlety brings in gunfire, shelling and explosions, followed by an eerie, haunting musical score.

Reading through this thread, I realise that for me it is impossible as I keep thinking 'this, no, this, and this and this and this'

Great chooses all though

Wolverine in the funny mirror hall in Murderworld, XMen 123. That issue is still the one I tell people that I read in high school and thought "I want to learn to draw like that". The scene in particular is the first time I'd seen Wolverine pop the claws, and I was hooked from then on.

The scene where Wolverine guts Proteus a few issues later. Blew me away that such a thing could be done in comics. I knew he was basically a walking corpse, but Logan just unleashed like that was incredible. *edited for clarity*

The courtroom scene in the Reed Richards trial that introduced surprise witnesses on an escalating power scale that seemed to have no upper limit. I loved it.
