Alex Ross is reporting that Rich Buckler has passed away. I was introduced to his work via The Fantastic Four. Another great passes.

Very sad. Though I recall that he often got slagged for blatantly copying the styles of other artists (I can certainly remember his "Jack Kirby" and "Neal Adams" phases), there's no denying he had talent.

Darn it! He got a bad reputation for "doing" Adams and Kirby (which is really a talent in and of itself!), but his own cinematic style (seen in BLACK PANTHER, DEMON HUNTER, and DEATHLOK), was actually really good and original! I was hoping for some sort of comeback graphic novel or something where he showed people what he could really do.

Sorry to hear.
He was the penciller on the first F.F. I bought.

Always thought Mr. Buckler was a very talented artist. I'm especially fond of his work on All-Star Squadron

Like many others, the first issue of the Fantastic Four that I read was drawn by Buckler -
There's been some complaints over the years about his copying the style of Kirby when drawing the FF, but I assume it's what the brass at Marvel wanted at the time.
