Okay I expect this one to be extremely challenging for everyone.

I narrow down my choice to Robert Louis Stevenson's The Body Snatcher and The Day the Earth Stood Still. These two are so close together I could give a different answer five minutes from now. At this moment I'm going to pick The Body Snatcher

Ooof... this one is tough.  I like so many of his sci-fi & horror genre entries (yes, even that big screen version of that classic TV show), but I have to say:

WEST SIDE STORY (1961)

When I finally saw this on the big-screen, almost 20 years ago, it bowled me over.  And I'm not generally the biggest fan of movie musicals, but this is one of the very best.  If not THE best.

Has to be THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.

Still a very powerful message. And although I only ever judge the special effects by the standards of the era, I think they still look pretty impressive in 2017.

I should rewatch it soon.

This one is really tough. There are more genuine contenders that I'm wrestling with than for any other director we've had so far.

I will go with The Haunting.
