Will anyone be experiencing totality? In the SF Bay Area we will be seeing about 75%, provided the fog burns off in time. I have relatives in Idaho Falls and Nashville. I could have gone and visited them, and experienced day time darkness, but didn't really think about it until it was too late.

My brother and sister live in western KY. Directly on the 100% path.Alas they are 600 miles from me and I didn't plan my vacation time correctly.
Also, they said the area is completely inundated with out of towners for the event.

I'm in Kentucky as well--about 96% totality where I'm at. Not worth taking a day off and fighting hordes of traffic to get that last 4%. I'll take a break during the afternoon at work and check it out.

We're about 70 miles east of Nashville. We're supposed to get totality. Our local college football stadium is one of NASA's official viewing locations.
Of course I'll be at work another hour northeast and I'm not sure if we're in the path of totality or not.

I have friends who live near Carbondale, IL, and they've said that it's already nuts down there. To make matters worse, people are also in town (parents dropping off their kids and staying) for the start of the college year at SIU. All the campsites are overbooked, too.

In Philadelphia we are getting 75 -80 percent. What really sucks for me is I have to go to Nashville on Tuesday.
I tried to convince my boss to let me go a day earlier so I could be in the path of full totality. No joy though.

I learned a very simple way to watch a solar eclipse without risking eye damage. Take two small (8x10) sheets of cardboard, and punch a pinhole in one of them. Then stand with your back to the eclipse, and hold out the cards so the light from the Sun passes thru the hole onto the second sheet. It's basically a pinhole camera, and you will see the Moon make its way across the Sun's face. Punch several holes and you can get multiple viewings!

I am amazed that there is not an END OF THE WORLD crazy theory attached to the eclipse. Maybe there is and I just missed it.

holes,but thought it might `strain` my eyes!
