With the Cowboys win against a hapless Giants squad, I'm 7-6 so far and 3-3 v Hagerman with two games to go.

I wasn't able to watch the game, unfortunately, but I heard the Giants were bad. And I don't just mean `they really needed OBJ' bad.

I didn't get to watch the night game!  New medication kicked my butt.  But 3-3 with Monday Night Drama to go feels right.

8-5 to start the year off.  Not bad, not great.

And I'll say it now, the officiating definitely needs to get a LOT better.  Too many bad calls and  blatantly missed calls yesterday.  The most egregious one was the call in the Seahawks/Packers game with a player getting kicked out of the game for "throwing a punch".  There was no punch thrown.....

Weekly winners: as noted, the Chiefs Charlie Brown'd us by beating the defending SB champs on their own field.  Wow.

And Brian Floyd was the only person to pick the Jaguars over the Texans in Houston (did they play in Houston?  I can't find anything out.)  Division game drama!
Since this win marks the first time the Jags have been over 0.500 in SIX YEARS I'm going to sprinkle our very first I CALLED IT! award of the season with a little extra juice, because I've been awake since 12:20 AM.  Congratulations, Brian!

So I am 10-5 for the week.  Not a great start, but at least I'm in double digits!

Also, the Vikings look like a legit threat in the NFC.  Teams better have a stout offensive line when you face that defense!

After the final two games of week one in the books, I go an unimpressive 8-7 and 3-4 v Hagerman.  But for a blocked field goal, I almost had that Chargers game.  That said, the Vikings win in impressive fashion so I'm all good.  And?  We take on Hagerman's team in Pittsburgh on Sunday!  SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!

Won my last six to finish 11-4 in week one.   Didn't get to see a lot of games (some are on the DVR) but it was something to watch Aaron Rodgers just toying with the Seahawks' line.  Rodgers is the best I've ever seen at drawing people off and manipulating those substitution penalties and he was in rare form, particularly for the first game of the season when defenses are usually still ahead of offenses.

Ladies (well...no ladies this year again) and gentlemen (not many among us but a few...at least, there should...statistically) : here is the 1st week result analysis and overall ranking !!!

Week 1 (and, for the only time, Overall Ranking) :

First of all, I did miss the deadline for KC-Pats...and would have pick my Pats, but duly made my picks on my mobile, as I was in holidays...and just noticed they were not on the thread...nevermind, I'm trying a new challenge against you this year, Rick Senger...I play one week  less than you.

Here is my comments of the games, I all watched in 40' on my game pass and what was my pick :
  • Chiefs at Patriots : should be close as KC as finally offensive weapons for Alex...Pats....but no, Pats were surpringly short in DL/LB (come back Rob), unable to stop flawless Smith and his new RB + Tyreek...sorry for their ProBowler FS...0-1

  • Jets at Bills : the Jets won't tank...but Buffalo is a good team. 1-1

  • Falcons at Bears : I expected a good game from the Bears...and they should have won. A weird "déjà vu" in their last 4 passes...1-2

  • Ravens at Bengals : I never pick against my Ravens...and expected a slaughter of Cinci OL...2-2

  • Steelers at Browns : come on...the Browns deserved to win...but lost. 3-2

  • Cardinals at Lions : I like my Lions but I almost switched to another game after 4 series...4-2

  • Jaguars at Texans : Very solid game for Jax, running game, defense...but were was the Texans D (we know they don't have an O) ? 4-3

  • Raiders at Titans : Disappointed by the young guns game between Carr and Mariotta...4-4

  • Eagles at Redskins : I picked Captain Kirk...but Eagles'D is still huge. 4-5

  • Colts at Rams : Even with Luck, I like the Rams 'D). And Indi will have a loooong season. 5-5

  • Seahawks at Packers : Same ol' OL pb for the Seahawks. Very good game. I should never pick against Aaron at home. 5-6

  • Panthers at 49ers : Is there good QB in the next draft ? Cam is still asleep. 6-6

  • Giants at Cowboys : flawless ball control '16 Cowboys...No OBJ...No O for NY 7-6

  • Saints at Vikings : poor last hurrah for Brees (and Adrian)...Minnesota O and Bradford were '16 Atlantaesque !!! 8-6

  • Chargers at Broncos : I picked Philip...and even if Simian played very well (he still has a lot of Peyton toys)...WTF this FG ?!!! 8-7

Overall ranking :

Brian Floyd takes the lead with his solid 12-3

The Ricks connection, Marzullo and Senger already in the hunt with 11-4

Kevin Brown follows with 10-5

Our new friend James Johnson comes in with 9-6, alongside our manitou Kevin Hagerman and Brad Brickley

Matt Reed saves 8-7

Doug Centers and Alan Somerhall under .50 with 7-8

aaaaand, William Roberge is in with his KC-Pats pick...0-1 !!!

For the rest of us...it's still time to catch up !!! Were are you, ussual suspects Anthony Lombardi, Andy Meyers, Mark Cheek
