I would go with that, Wallace. As a kid, long before there was the OHOTMU, I just naturally presumed Hercules was stronger than Thor. It just seemed logical.

Perhaps it was due to the ancient myths I'd read about. Hercules' strength was always stated to be tremendous; Thor was said to be strong, but not THAT strong.

Any team with Hercules on will do well. The only drawback I envision for him is if going against the likes of Destroyer and Juggernaut. In battles like those, brute strength will only take a person so far...

I opted for POWERSLAVE by Iron Maiden. ;-)

A great choice! Powerful album.

Meanwhile, Black Widow gets to use her brains and agility to find a way to remove Juggernaut's helmet, which leaves him slightly more vulnerable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but removing his helmet only made him vulnerable to psychic attacks, right? Once they removed it, they'd need someone like Xavier to deliver the coup de grace.

I think people underestimate Hercules' strength. (I say he's stronger than Thor.)

Although I prefer Thor to Hercules (as far as the MU goes), I'd agree with that. I wonder - would that fall under a variation of The Specialist Rule?

I have long felt Hercules was physically stronger (though not
mightier) than Thor. Learning about that rule reenforced my belief.

For the record, according to Disney, Goofy is a Goof, not a dog. If you write in and ask, they'll send you a letter confirming this :)

Buying an airmail stamp as I type this, John. ;-)

It's interesting that we have a consensus (I think!) on Hercules being stronger than Thor.

I've always believed that Hercules and Thor are evenly matched in strength. But if it was hand-to-hand combat, I'll give the nod to Herc due to he is more skilled in that area.

Back to the Champions...  As a kid, I thought the book was cool. But as I got older and re-read it, I realized that the initial line-up of this team was way unbalanced. Might as well call them, "Hercules and The Miracles".

This is similar to having the pre-Crisis Superman in the JLA.

Since we're on the subject of this team. This scene was disturbing to me back in my comic reading days.

Darkstar halted the Vanisher mid teleport.
His face haunts me.

Yes...disturbing is the only way to describe that image. It's one of many comic book moments that I experienced as a kid that stuck with me through the ages.

James Johnson - for my money, you're grossly underestimating the Ghost Rider. No, he's not as strong as Hercules, but he does have super strength, and I think he is an excellent "back up" anchor man to Hercules. One Fogey's opinion, of course,.

Robbie, when the Choose An Opponent discussion eventually runs its course, would you mind if I posed a semi-related question (inasmuch as it deals with the theme/name The Champions) in this thread?

It might start up a new, fun discussion, but I don't think it warranted starting a new thread. Your call, sir! Thanks.

Well Ghost Rider's Hellfire may work something akin to a psychic attack, so removing Juggernaut's helmet may improve its efficiency.
