First full trailer.  This looks amazing.  Berenthal is pretty much perfect casting, as witnessed by Daredevil Season 2.  He's a huge fan of the comics, he did his research, and he pushes on set to get the character right.  I think it shows.

I'll give it a try, but I prefer The Punisher when he's the antagonist (as in DAREDEVIL s. 2) rather than the protagonist.

On that score, Berenthal has said the main thing he kept harping on during the filming with everyone was reminding them over and over again that, "The Punisher is not a hero."  That's part of why I'm so hopeful, because I agree with you, Petter.

Yeah, Bill. Frank even said "Kill 'em All" in the trailer, too. I know it's the wrong album, but still...

I don't think it's actually Metallica, but someone is definitely playing One acoustically at the beginning.

Great trailer.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bernthal at a couple
of conventions. I nicer guy you couldn't meet. My
girlfriend's daughter was thinking about getting into
acting, and asked him how to get started. Unfortunately,
before he could really talk to her, his handler has to
wish him off to the Walking Dead panel, which we
attended. After the panel, he got off the stage and
hunted us down to make sure she got an answer from him.
He talked about the best places for acting classes, who
to talk to for representation and so on. He gave her a
good 10 minutes of his undivided attention. Not many
would go through that trouble considering how busy they
are during convention hours.

Apparently the NYCC panel for the show has been cancelled, and the show's release window may be threatened due to the Las Vegas shooting.

I don't think the author of that article is reading the character correctly, or the way that he's been presented in Daredevil season 2.  Berenthal's constant reminder to everyone on the set during filming has been, "Frank is not a hero."  His actions have been deliberately portrayed as disturbing.  In Daredevil season 2, every time there was a moment where you might start to feel sympathy for Frank over the death of his family, he would unleash a truly horrific amount of violence and kill that sympathy.  The author of the article seems to only be able to see superheroes and villains in terms of Captain America and the Red Skull.  Truly heroic or unambiguously evil.  But Marvel and Netflix have the right to tell stories and feature characters who are more ambiguous than that.

Wow.   This one really drives home the trauma of being a combat veteran.

This was amazing, and easily the most socially conscious of the Marvel Netflix shows, addressing PTSD and other veteran's issues, gun control, and other related issues throughout.  And doing so in a balanced way.  Easily the most violent thing I've ever watched, but I think in large part due to the fact that the violence isn't glamorized in any way.  Its terrible and difficult to watch.  As the Punisher's actions should be.

I found this OK. Not a fan of straying so far away from the source material. I hear it's based on a later Punisher series by Ennis, but it sounds like that series strayed far from the original source as well.

I know people love Bernthal in the role, but I would've preferred someone like Frank Grillo.

The Netflix/Marvel TV formula is wearing thin for me. But, strangely, so far I'm finding The Punisher, a character I don't really like, to be one of the better ones.

This series is far more detached from the MCU than anything else so far.  While I get the reasons why for season 1...I’d like for season two to reach into the larger landscape and get a bit more of the Punisher’s comic book roots into play.  Hopefully Jigsaw will be the ticket.  Billy Russo was on of the better villains in the MCU so far.

The Punisher is my favorite of the Netflix series since the first season of Daredevil. It lags a bit in the middle but the first three or four episodes were excellent and the ending is good. I liked how he was portrayed as not really a hero, as he isn't. He's a violent vigilante. There were some scenes that really emphasized that too.
