I don't have any cushion to roll the dice on New England's porous defense.  Patriots in an absolute shootout, 41-38

Thursday, October 5

§ Patriots atBuccaneers  If the Patriots lose this, then there are cracks in the wall in NE.

SundayOctober 8

§ Bills at Bengals  Despite the Bills’ win in GA, I don’t haveconfidence in them.

§ Jets at Browns  I truly think the Browns are better thantheir record, they need to prove it now.

§ Panthers at Lions  Panthers are facing a better defense thanwhat the Pats put up last week.

§ 49ers at Colts  No Luck? No chance.

§ Titans at Dolphins  Mariota’s injury gives the ‘Phins a chance.

§ Chargers at Giants  Is death an option here?  No? Damn.  I’ll take the home team(reluctantly).

§ Cardinals at Eagles  Make or break game for the Eagles.

§ Jaguars at Steelers  Steelers are in the same situation as theFalcons last week:  This is a game theyshould win easily.

§ Seahawks at Rams  Rams are for real this year.

§ Ravens at Raiders  Devastating injury to Carr makes this an easywin for the Ravens.

§ Packers at Cowboys  Fuck the Packers.

§ Chiefs at Texans  Were those 2 games a fluke for Watson?  We shall see vs. the Chiefs.

Monday,October 9

§ Vikings at Bears  The Mitchell Trubisky era begins!!  Get your fresh, hot biscuits ready!  GO BEARS!!

Patriots

Bills
Jets
Lions
49ers
Dolphins (would flip a coin on this one if Mariota wasn't hurt)
Giants (game is going to stink beyond belief!)
Cardinals
Steelers
Rams
Ravens (if Carr wasn't hurt, I'd go with the Raiders)
Cowboys - what Kevin Brown said goes for me, as well!
Texans - no confidence in the Chiefs after barely beating the Deadskins, and Watson may be for real

Bears

*high five on the Packers hate, Kevin*

THE TITANS SIGNED BRANDON `THE LIVING STATUE' WEEDEN! WHAT. THE. HELL?!

I still can't believe the Titans signed Weeden. I saw a list of the other....`illustrious' (ie, piece of crap) QBs that they looked at instead of Kaepernick, and it goes to show he's been blacklisted.

Anyone think Weeden will get sacked at least 3 times every game he starts?

(As I said at another board, the first rule when signing a replacement QB should be: `Was he drafted by the Browns? if so, then HELL NO.')

The rest:

Sunday October 8

  • Bills at Bengals - Bills D strong, but Cincy will avoid a relapse.

  • Jets at Browns - Browns just aren't there.

  • Panthers at Lions - Shootout?

  • 49ers at Colts - Colts have bigger problems than Andrew Luck being out.

  • Titans at Dolphins - I think Mariota plays.

  • Chargers at Giants - 0-0 tie likely but a risky pick.

  • Cardinals at Eagles - Bird fight!

  • Jaguars at Steelers - Gotta back my guys here.  Jags would love to slap around another AFCN team, but that doesn't make it so.  Bell's back in the swing of things.

  • Seahawks at Rams - Rams are tough.

  • Ravens at Raiders - No Carr, no problem?

  • Packers at Cowboys - Last year I was 13-3 picking Cowboys games.  This year I am 0-4.  So I have no confidence in my pick, but it might force Matt to root for the Packers, which is personally amusing.

  • Chiefs at Texans - This game is gonna be good.

Monday, October 9

  • Vikings at Bears - Counting on Matt to go homer, taking the safer pick.  But Bears will be starting a new QB; there might not be much film on him.

(Bracing myself)

Sunday October 8

  • Bills at Bengals

  • Jets at Browns - Browns just aren't there.

  • Panthers at Lions

  • 49ers at Colts - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!! Both are horrible, so I'm going with the home team.

  • Titans at Dolphins - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!!  Why the 'fins?  They're horrible.  Mariota ain't playing.  I'm betting on it.

  • Chargers at Giants - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!! No faith in one of our two local teams. The LA Chargers will find a way to lose by a point.

  • Cardinals at Eagles - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!! The Cards look so bad this season.  Living on the West Coast, I see all their games and they're dreadful

  • Jaguars at Steelers - Steelers.  Home.  Can't go away from that.

  • Seahawks at Rams - I think they're for real.

  • Ravens at Raiders

  • Packers at Cowboys - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!  I hate you, Kevin.  You made me choose between two of my MOST HATED teams in the NFL.  Push comes to shove, my most hated team are the Packers.  Fuck them.  That said? I think they get it done.  So, yeah, you forced one on me for a cheap laugh.  Good on ya, buddy!  ;)

  • Chiefs at Texans - I think I may regret this pick...

Monday, October 9

  • Vikings at Bears - Yes, I'll  be a homer. That said?  We don't fare well with regard to change.  I fully expect us to have a difficult time on the road against a QB no one has seen play an NFL snap.  Regardless...SKOL VIKINGS!!!!

Five disagreements this week. Sweep and Hagerman could wind up in the winners seat.

Jesus.  Jags have 2 pick-sixes against Pittsburgh, who only have three field goals so far.  20-9

Apologies for not listing the bye teams; this will be addressed in next week's thread.

And here it is!

I'll be back later today to hand out awards.  This has been a weird weekend!

Okay, I think I've got it now after failing twice.  Two awards this week.  The Panthers gave us the Charlie Brown this week, beating the Lions on the road.  This is the second time this season the Panthers have defied us.

And Allan Summerall notches his second I CALLED IT! by picking the Jaguars over the Steelers.  Will the Jags sweep the AFCN?  Of course!  We suck!

   Well done!

With the Chiefs and Vikings wins, I go 10-4 on the week and 4-1 v Hagerman. For the season I'm 49-28 and 15-8 v Hagerman.  Can't ever feel cocky with a seven game lead vs Hagerman just a third of the way through, but I can quietly celebrate inside.  ;)

NFL Week 5 Picks While I Had Time:

Thursday October 5th
Patriots at Buccaneers Right

Sunday October 8th
Jets at Browns Wrong
Panthers at Lions Right <-----I picked this one in the "week 3" thread so no Charlie Brown after all (and my first "I called it" of the year...yay!)
49ers at Colts Right
Titans at Dolphins Right
Bills at Bengals Wrong
Chargers at Giants Right
Jaguars at Steelers Wrong
Cardinals at Eagles Wrong
Seahawks at Rams Wrong
Ravens at Raiders Wrong
Packers at Cowboys Wrong
Chiefs at Texans Right

Monday October 9th
Vikings at Bears Right

Not exactly setting the world on fire with 7-7 and another .500 week so 45-32 overall.   I blame my lackluster performance entirely on Philippe's absence, which has obviously thrown me off!  Also, my dog ate my  homework.
