His autobiography is out soon - and he'll be signing at the Birmingham branch of Waterstones:

I cannot wait!

Nice! Been a Maiden fan since Metal For Muthas Tour in
1980,coincidentally in the January of that year i saw
Rainbow at Bingley Hall,Stafford. They were supported by
Samson, who`s drummer Thunderstick was an early Maiden
drummer,and a young `Bruce Bruce` on vocals! Look on
Youtube for `Thunderburst` by Samson and compare it with
The Ides Of March by Maiden!

:)

Ironically, I'm not a big fan of their debut album. Nothing really grabbed me on it, but the likes of POWERSLAVE (my favourite) and others turned me into a fan.

I loved them from the start,i found the debut to be a good metal/punk hybrid(Although Steve Harris denies it!) I agree Powerslave is their best album. The cover to Somewhere In Time is a sci-fi anorak`s dream!

I'm glad you feel POWERSLAVE is their best album. It's the one I've listened to the most - and also features great cover art.

Indeed! I had a large tour poster of the cover art, there
were things like R2D2 hidden in the hieroglyphics!

The first album I got was "Piece of Mind," which I love. "Powerslave" is my favorite visual of Eddie, and a great record.

I finally saw them on the tour supporting "Brave New World" which I thought was a great record too. I knew I was getting old because, damn, that was one loud concert.

Slight thread drift, I really want to see The Iron Maidens. Counting down the days until I see them announce a tour in my hometown!

I`m a vodka guy Robbie, but Guinness would be fine!(I can`t have Irish roots and not like it!) On the plus side, the book is on my wife`s list of suggestions for my impending birthday!

I worked with Dickinson for five years when he was a pilot for the now defunct Astraeus Airlines. Very friendly and approachable, he never really played the celebrity.

My lasting memory was chatting to him once about the soundtrack he had recorded for a film he'd written the screenplay to - he suddenly started singing one of the songs giving me my own personal concert!

Yes Matthew, from what i know he`s a very down to earth
chap considering he`s an Olympic class fencer, author
pilot, musician cancer survivor etc,his book promises to
be very interesting!
Empire Of The Clouds is one of my favourite Maiden songs
ever,all 13 minutes of it!
