I think some people get too hung up on labeling a singer or band's style. Some music critics are bad about this. Some fans don't identify with a certain genre so they want to call a singer or band they like but with elements of that genre something else so in their own way, they are hung up on a label.I've noticed if you look up a book or movie on some websites, it suggests other books or films that may be of interest to you without actually calling them any particular genre. Is there anything like that online for music?By the way, I think Robbie's thread is a good one because it got everyone thinking about variations in styles.

Warren,i think there are only two real types of music...good and bad,and they depend on personal taste! I hate those `Guilty Pleasure` threads,if you like a song,it`s ok ,no need to be guilty!
