If anyone - seriously - has a spare bedroom, and wishes to let a guy with a terrible British accent sleep in it, then please, if you're in New York, let me know ASAP:

The cantina from the first film definitely made an impression on the public. From the time the film was released, it was a standout scene from the film.

I have a theory about its owner(s)....

I understand that in the Exanded Universe, some Wookies named Chalmun, but I am going with the bartender we saw onscreen. Regardless of exactly whom was the original owner, that guy had enough after some old Jedi wizard sliced the arm off a patron and brought on the Imperial investigation into his bar. He decided to sell it off...

Ricard Pryor took over after that
guy sold it off, but he too had his fill after dealing with the unruly patrons and eventually sold it to...

Bea Arthur, who tamed unruly customers and regulars with her jaunty show tunes, and her traditional trademark nightly closer "Goodnight, But Not Goodbye."

After that, the history of ownership becomes murky.

Rumor has it, it was purchased by a Barry Manilow impersonator who turned it into a cabaret bar that featured songs detailing local history: LINK.
