Born 100 years ago today:

We've probably all seen Blake Carrington in DYNASTY. Whilst that show was a product of its era - I doubt I'd rewatch it today except to see Heather Locklear - Forsythe's performance was compelling.

What a voice the man had. It could well explain why he voiced Charlie in CHARLIE'S ANGELS.

Of course, he appeared in films such as SCROOGED, too.

What an impressive body of work he left behind.

He also starred in two Hitchcock films: THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY and TOPAZ.

But over here he will always be best known for Blake Carrington, I suppose. It may be hard to understand for people in America, but in Norway we had ONE TV-channel back in the 80ies, and DYNASTY was shown on Saturday nights, which was prime time. The show was huge!

My earliest memory of him is in BACHELOR FATHER, a rather racy title (for the Fifties) for a completely innocuous series. Kind of an early pass at the formula that would later be seen, expanded, in FAMILY AFFAIR.
