Frasier's dad, and uncountable other memorable roles.

I didn't realize that he was so relatively young - that means that he was only 53 when he began on FRASIER. I have to remind myself that Kelsey Grammer is actually younger than I thought as well (he was 29 when he first appeared on CHEERS, and 38 when FRASIER began). They both played older men well!

Sad to hear of his passing, though - Martin was a nice grounding balance to the pretentiousness of Frasier and Niles. He was also nice voice casting in THE IRON GIANT.

On more than a few occasions, the 'Martin and Daphne' bits in between were better than the main story of whichever two people Frasier was dating on the same night.

One of my favorite roles of his was as the White Sox's manager, Kid Gleason, in EIGHT MEN OUT.

I remember him doing an interview where he said he helped Jane Leeves with her accent as Daphne on FRASIER, since he was originally from the place in England that Daphne was supposed to be from. But he couldn't actually do an English accent himself anymore.

Sorry to hear this. I just finished the entire Frasier series and enjoyed his role in it. Like Vinny, I would have guessed he was older than 77.

So many roles, always stand-out. My personal favorite -- his work in MOONSTRUCK.

Very sad to hear this. Really enjoyed his work. And of course, he was absolutely superb as Marty Crane.

I thought he was excellent on FRASIER.  He had fantastic comic timing on a show with nothing but excellent performers.

They were all helped by some of the best writing in television.  I can't help but stop when surfing the channels.  And since Cozi started showing a two hour block each night, I have a "go to" station when I need a fix.

The Hallmark Channel shows re-runs of FRASIER (and GOLDEN GIRLS) late at night.

FRASIER also runs on Cozi TV, if you're getting over-the-air TV in America.

One of my favourite quotes of all time comes from a character Mahoney played in SHE'S THE ONE:

Son: Why are you getting so upset Dad? You don't even believe in God.

Mahoney: That doesn't mean I'm going to stop being a good Catholic.
