I know Marvel Comics' The Destroyer is dependent on who is inhabiting the suit of armour, but it is a very powerful force when running at peak performance (gosh, I make it sound like a Mac or something).

Made of a very durable metal, the Destroyer is near-unstoppable, very strong and has vast powers. It was designed to slay gods, right? It can fire beams of energy, too. I may have missed some powers, but that covers it.

So, let's pick opponents. Four only, please (no ties, contrivances, honourable mentions, etc.).

The four choices must consist of:

DC hero
DC villain
Marvel hero
Marvel villain

No teams, please. I want to see how a solo hero would perform against the Destroyer. Elaborate on your choices if you wish.

For my DC hero, it has to be the Flash. Is there something in the Speed Force that can help tip the balance in favour of the Flash?

For my DC villain, I'm going with Trigon. He's an arrogant sod who I feel tends to underestimate foes. At the same time, he can back it up with actions. Be interesting to see how he handles Destroyer.

For my Marvel hero, I'd have to wonder what Man-Thing could do against Destroyer. Stalemate? I've never seen the Man-Thing hurt (doesn't everything go through him?). Can't see him doing much against Destroyer.

As for my Marvel villain, it has to be Juggernaut. Juggernaut VS Destroyer, eh? Imagine that! Matter VS Antimatter! No hero would want to be anywhere near such a battle. I can't predict a winner, either. Isn't Juggernaut's forward momentum unstoppable once he starts running? Isn't he invulnerable to the likes of Destroyer's beams? But what could Juggernaut do against Destroyer?

Come on, Marvel, give me a Juggernaut VS Destroyer graphic novel!

DC hero: The Spectre. I'm not entirely sure where he
stands in terms of powers and overall power level
these days, but I'm assuming he'd be at least a
challenge for the Destroyer, if not possibly ending up
an outright rout in favour of the Spectre.

DC villain: Ra's Al Ghul. The sheer resources at his
command and his intellect might make for an
interesting confrontation.

Marvel hero: Dr. Strange. It's hard for a construct
to wreak much havoc where it's been unleashed when it
finds itself blinked away somewhere...else.

Marvel villain: I want to say Doom, but the reasons
are very much the same as my thoughts on Ra's. But I
don't want to go the obvious route of some powerhouse
vs another unstoppable powerhouse, so I'll stick with
Doom.

DC Hero- Wonder Woman. Norse construct vs. Olympian construct. Destroyer's energy beams against Diana's lightning bolt bracelets. Would be fun to see what would happen if the Destroyer was lassoed by the unbreakable Lasso of Truth.

DC Villain- Composite Superman (original). This fellow is no joke. He has the combined powers of Superman and several Legionnaires. He actually defeated Superman and Batman. More powers than I can list, good luck Destroyer.

Marvel Hero- Quasar. Can the Destroyer break out of Wendell's containment construct? I say yes , and let the battle begin!

Marvel Villain- Ultron-6. Adamantium vs. Norse enchanted metal. I'm rooting for the Destroyer here but he'll have to contend with Ultron's computer brain.

DC Hero: Captain Marvel. I'm thinking the wisdom of Solomon would be the
difference but with Cap's magical background this seems like a natural match-
up to me.

DC Villain. Professor Zoom.

Marvel Hero. Black Panther. The panther is no slouch with technology but I
don't believe for a moment he has anything that would match the Destroyer.
He would find a way but not before a lot of property damage. What affect
would vibranium have

Marvel Villain. Diablo. Alchemy Vs Magic

Great suggestions, folks, including some I've never considered.

The Destroyer is one of my favourite villains.

Dang, Robbie, you never identify if you want a good fight, or someone who could defeat your choice! So I'll wobble (but I don't fall down... :)

DC hero: I've got two who I'd REALLY love to see, but I think the best match up would be with Negative Man of the Doom Patrol. Of course, the battle couldn't last more than 60 seconds...

DC villain: So many choices. So MANY choices. But if I can't select the Penguin, I think I would enjoy seeing Sinestro take on the Destroyer (before all this emotional, variant colored lantern crap.) I suspect that would be a honey of a battle.

Marvel hero: There are a couple who are too easy, and far too many who would go down like a house of cards in a farting contest. I'm going to go off the board and select Moondragon. A key element to the Destroyer is the mind controlling it... and that's where Moondragon would be most effective in a battle. (Because I know she's a top notch hand to hand fighter, but SERIOUSLY?)

Marvel villain: Again, two leapt to mind at once. But I don't know the status of one of 'em (alive or dead, hero or villain, or what the heck) so I thought I'd go for a little bit of irony. I'd like to see the Destroyer in the realm of Pluto.

I am going with the Destroyer from the comics, not from the Thor movie. Bad ass though that one was, Thor took it down pretty easily, I think.

He certainly did take it down too easily.

I loved the late 90s issue (Dan Jurgens) where Thor had perhaps his toughest battle yet against the Destroyer. Let's hope that the Marvel Cinematic Universe give us a Destroyer quadrilogy soon... ;-)

It's certainly one of the possible re-entry points for the Fantastic Four. I know you love those one-off match ups Robbie, and for myself... ANY reason to get a good FF movie is enough of a reason.

DC Hero: Wonder Woman. Thought about Superman, but then remembered his vulnerability to magic. The Man of Steel would wind up either badly injured or dead.

DC Villain: Darkseid.

Marvel Hero: Will get back to you on that one.

Marvel Villain: The Juggernaut.
