One only, please, no ties, honourable mentions, etc.

In "Schisms", Data has written a rather esoteric poem about his cat, Spot. He wants feedback from LaForge. LaForge seems hesitant. The following words from Data sum up his character rather well.

"Your hesitation suggests you are trying to protect my feelings. However, since I have none, I would prefer you to be honest. An artist's growth depends upon accurate feedback."

I thought it was nice that LaForge thought of Data as "human" and did try and spare his feelings - and that Data responded like he did.

From the infancy of Season One, but:

"I think you should be destroyed."

...always gives me chills.

"Skin of Evil", right? I'd forgotten about that one.

From "In Theory", the sad truth about Pinocchio...

D'Sora:Kiss me

Data kisses her

D'Sora:What were you just thinking?

Data:In that particular moment, I was re-configuring the warp field parameters, analyzing the collected works of Charles Dickens, calculating the maximum pressure I could safely apply to your lips, considering a new food supplement for Spot...

D'Sora:I'm glad I was in there somewhere.

Man, this is hard! SO many wonderful moments to choose from.

First one that comes to mind would be "One is my name. The other is not." when Pulaski pronounces his name as "Dah-tah".

It is hard to narrow it down to one. There are episodes where it could be said that Brent Spiner is giving more of a tour de force performance, and perhaps displaying more of his acting skills, but for me my most favourite Data moment is a very quiet, short one towards the end of The Next Phase:-

It's basically where Geordi & Ro have returned in Ten Forward and everyone is rushing to greet and hug them. The camera slowly pans over to Data who is left standing on his own, looking almost lost and forgotten about, (despite the fact that it was him that figured it all out and rescued them.) But Geordi notices it, and quietly walks over to him.

He's met by a "It is good to see you Geordi" from Data and something about the way it is played and the simple gestures like Geordi putting his hand on his friend's shoulder just gets me EVERY time. It's as good an illustration of their friendship as any that you'll see.

This was hard...

I'm going to go with "I understand your concerns--Request Denied."

Unification II:

<Sela Yar> Excuse me, I'm just finishing up a speech... for you, Mr. Spock.   I rather enjoy writing.   I don't get to do it very often in this job.

<Data> Perhaps you would be happier in another job.

Sela just glares at Data with this "shut up" stare that's priceless, ROFL.
