I can imagine Traitor`s Gate being played by Iron
Maiden! I keep getting the chorus of Evil Never Dies pop
into my head.Back at work tomorrow after a couple of
days off, Firepower will be back in my car cd player!

Late to the thread but I love this album! Never the Heroes is my favorite at the moment!

One question, Bill, have you seen the School of Rock performance of Victim of Changes? Very good!

Hmmmmm...I don't know if I can hear Iron Maiden playing it as much as I can hear a solo Bruce Dickinson singing it. There are vocal melodies in Traitor's Gate that are somewhat reminiscent of Kill Devil Hill (from A TYRANNY OF SOULS).

Oh wow! I'll check it out!

Bill, you mention their older albums and my brother (who is 8 years older than me) is the reason I'm a fan. My first and favorite is Screaming for Vengeance but I do think they've lost the grooviness that they had on some of their earlier albums. I've always had the theory that the pick up in speed and heaviness was an apology for using guitar synthesizers on Turbo. Painkiller is a thrash album to me. I love them all (except maybe Nostradamus) but I'm thinking of songs like Desert Plains, Delivering the Goods, Better By You Better By Me, Take These Chains, and even though they're covers, Green Manalishi and Diamonds and Rust. They seemed to up the tempo from Ram It Down on. I don't count the Ripper albums since I've never listened to them.

The Ripper albums are not to my tastes at all.I think
Nostradamus is awful.Love the 80`s albums although the
latter 80`s ones are a bit patchy, and the electronic
drums on Ram It Down don`t suit the material.Painkiller
was a return to form. The 70`s albums from Sad Wings to
Killing Macine are excellent, some great versatility in
Rob`s voice!

Never the biggest fan of live albums but I love Unleashed in the East and Priest Live! After Van Halen, Priest is my second favorite band*.

*I'm also a huge Maiden fan, Robbie!

Or `Unleashed In The Studio` if you believe the rumours!
;-)

I think liking Priest just leads on to liking Maiden,i
was into Priest,Lizzy etc in the late 70`s, so when
Maiden turned up with that aggressive, melodic twin lead
guitar sound, i was primed to like them!

For sure and from those origins I was able to get into bands like Queensryche, Dream Theater, and Helloween.

Speaking of Maiden/Priest, I'm going to assume that you
guys have heard it, but just in case (since I've
encountered fans of both bands that have never heard of
the song), I have to recommend the Bruce/Rob track "The
One You Love to Hate".

"I`ve seen them perform it with Geoff Tate as The Three

**

That would be absolutely hair raising. In a good way!

The Three Tremors was originally supposed to be Rob, Bruce, and RONNIE JAMES DIO. Now THAT would have been epic.

and a couple of other guys are about to release a new
