If this is true...then the MCU is going to double down on the 'cosmic' side of the coin pretty hard.

The Eternals are interesting as an idea but there hasn't been anything done with them that's been particularly exciting. They've had some good appearances as guest characters in other books but the whole Eternal story is kind of pointless. It's likely to be get more of an Inhumans level reaction than Guardians of the Galaxy. Unless they plan to really veer away from anything that's been done with them.

I'd rather see a Squirrel Girl movie over an Eternals movie. And I'm not really sure I want to see a Squirrel Girl movie either.

Wasn't that girl 'Lily' from the phone commercials playing Squirrel Girl? I'd watch a movie of that.

Yeah, there's not a chance in hell this isn't directly related to WB's New Gods announcement.

Even though we've seen one already, the Eternals gives us a direct link to the Celestials. Maybe Celestials will be the big bad at the end of the next phase?

And where there are Eternals, there must be Deviants. That could be fun visually.

Note:

Just read the article - it states some of the Eternals are from Titan???? Is that true? I thought they were all from Earth.

Many of the Eternals shipped off from Earth centuries ago and made their home on Titan. Thanos and Starfox are both Titanian Eternals. As is Saturn Girl. Okay, I'm kidding about Saturn Girl.

Thanos, Eros and Mentor are all from Titan. They are an offshoot from the main branch. Mentor left and founded his own colony after leaving Earth.

Regarding Mentor, Thanos, Eros.....I did not know that! Thanks for the clarity. So is Thanos an Eternal or a actually a Deviant?

He is the son of Mentor and Sui-San, a non-Eternal woman. That's why Eros and Thanos don't have the same power set and immortality of regular Eternals. Thanos apparently has Deviant genes. And that's how his appearance came about. His mother was repulsed by his appearance. She tried to kill him as a small child. So his fascination with death is at least slightly understandable since he came close to it early on.

I'm usually of the opinion that Marvel should stick with their heavy hitters, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk. However given their surprisingly great successes with characters like the Black Panther and the Guardians, who knows what they could do with the Eternals?

With some 80 years of history, a release schedule of three films a year (plus streaming) and a proven track record of successfully launching lesser-known characters, Marvel should be leaving no stone unturned when it comes to exploring options like THE ETERNALS.

I'm just looking forward to release dates for MACHINE MAN, CAPTAIN UNIVERSE and DEVIL DINOSAUR.

Celestials sound like a job for Reed Richards.
