I'm pretty excited about the Eternals. A couple of characters look to be gender swapped but if they stick with the Kirby designs, I'll be happy.

Hard pass.  I'm seeing TOO MUCH gender swapping with this.

Just caught up to this. So... let me think here.

Wonder Man
Hercules
She-Hulk
The Human Torch
Namor
Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.
The Silver Surfer
Nighthawk
Captain Mar-Vell
The Warriors Three
Captain Marvel/Photon/<your name here>
Doc Samson
Brother Voodoo

That's a brief, if not exhaustive, list of Marvel characters who I'd rather see in their own movies than the Eternals.

What I read of them failed to capture my imagination sufficiently. They seemed a little too heavy on philosophy and reflection, and I feel those other characters deserve a chance before the Eternals - and that they'll make more money also.

That's not counting the solo adventures of the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Defenders, etc. But it might be a more profitable, and entertaining, start than the Eternals. Or so I think.

I read Gaiman’s mini but other than that, the only time I ever read them was when they’d show up in Avengers or something.

(Salma Hayek could be playing the Ultimate Nullifier, and I'd still be happy.)

I'd be willing to bet 99% of the population...including comic book
readers...cannot even name more than 2 or 3 ETERNALS, let alone be aware of
what gender they originally were. The MCU has my faith thus far...I'm willing to
give them some slack.

I LIKE the Eternals, but don't know if it's a concept that lends itself to a proper movie treatment. It seems like a multi-season TV show with a proper budget would be a better fit. We'll see how it goes.

The viewing public could get Guardians of the Galaxy or they could get the Inhumans (granted it wasn't the MCU...).

I discovered the Eternals in a stack of comics I found at my cousin's a few years after they were cancelled. It was the issue that introduced the Forgotten One. Not long after in real time, they showed up in the Avengers and had their own limited series. It all came together for me, I've always loved the designs and concept just not always the execution. At the same time, the MCU took a Guardians team that had a good comic but was cancelled and made it work. We keep saying Marvel is due for an under-performer but until it happens, I assume that they can pull it off.

Mr. Kane - of course, some of us weren't all that happy with "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the FIRST place.

Once I got the concept, in the second place, it was enjoyable indeed.

I'm 95% sure they'd base the film on Gaiman's mini, which was nicely self-contained while doing a good job of opening the door to a wider narrative.  It would also help them get around the larger question raised by the interconnected nature of the MCU as to WHY we haven't seen them, yet.
