^ this is a long way of saying I agree with JB, that EMPIRE was where the story took a turn away from what Lucas created originally.

This third trilogy only cemented that the story was fluff designed to appeal based on groundbreaking special effects and cheap pop-psych/New Age nonsense.

As a spectacle, the movie does its job. It ties the trilogy together probably as best as it could given the circumstances. But it's still a train wreck, the whole trilogy having been derailed by TLJ. The whole thing seems to pointless, so blandly uninteresting that even the return of Lando fails to make an impact.

After this one, I consider myself officially done with Star Wars.

I'm just not convinced it's as cut and dry as Byrne likes to make it sound.

This trillogy somewhat killed my love of STAR WARS.

I saw the original and second trilogies in theaters, including going to see the original movie twice. (But that was more or less going to a drive-in theater where it rained through half the movie the first time) And I saw all of them within a week of hitting the theaters, excepf for REVENGE OF THE SITH (week two for that one).

I didn't see any of the movies in this trilogy in theaters, and don't regret it.

To be fair, I intended to go see THE FORCE AWAKENS, but every time I planned to go something came up, and I had to wait for the DVD and Blu-Ray release.

I own THE LAST JEDI, and the only reason the packaging has been opened was to add it to VUDU. Same goes for SOLO, which I still have yet to watch.

I did not watch THE LAST JEDI or RISE OF SKYWALKER until last week, when we watched both back to back on DISNEY+.

This trilogy comes off as bad fanfic, at best.

What a waste.

It doesn't phase me anymore.  There is SO MUCH to trudge through for any major genre property these days (be it STAR WARS, STAR TREK, TERMINATOR, DR. WHO, JAMES BOND, etc.), that it's just that much easier for me let go of all the extraneous flotsam & jetsam and focus on what I enjoy the most.

John Boyega now says he was promoted as a Black main character yet was sidelined, while all the "nuance" was given to Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver

Despite being the beneficiary of more attention in the movies, Daisy Ridley isn't doing so great:

I guess the lesson is if you're an actor younger than 40, just say no to Star Wars starring roles.

Boyega's comments point to the tripping-stone that has troubled this "franchise expansion."

With no overall vision for these movies, they can't pretend it's all one story.

Long ago, Lucas created a marketing illusion which fans bought into-- namely that Star Wars was not serial fiction like a comic book, STAR WARS is a "Mythic Saga".

The one rule in that game is you can't tell people that you're making it up as you go along.

Disney decided they could break that rule and it has come to haunt them.
