Also Stephen Churay, Lee Weeks is a master who just keeps getting better and better. A very underrated and underappreciated artist. There are a lot of really good artists who've worked on Batman lately, Mikel Janin, Clay Mann, Joelle Jones, but I thought Lee Weeks recent stint blew them all away.

Neal Adams
John Byrne
Alan Davis
Jim Starlin
Paul Gulacy

Those are the ones I've hunted down, even bought stuff I wasn't interested in just to look at the art.  These are the ones I would buy if all their stuff was placed in front of me (for a reasonable amount of money):

Art Adams
Steve Ditko
Jim Lee
Bryan Hitch
Frank Cho
Marshall Rogers
Gene Colan

Me: Before I answer the question, I need to know if this counts as “John Byrne Art”...

---

JB: No.

---

Well then, I can honestly say, "I buy anything John Byrne draws".

I believe I own ALL of JB's published comic book art at this point -- but I refused to spend money on those Action Comics issues inked by Nelson (That said, I bought the issues where JB drew/inked the covers -- for the covers).

Nowadays I'm tracking down any SUPER obscure JB stuff I don't have. Like rare fanzines or trading cards or the 1986 Superman Mid-Ohio Con jacket and sweatshirt I recently added to the collection.

I don't collect anything that features repurposed JB art -- or I'd have a warehouse of things featuring this image of Wolverine:

O how I wish that drawing would disappear!

Some artists I follow from project to project include...

- John Byrne
- George Perez
- Tom Grummett
- Stuart Immonnen
- Terry Moore

I'm not going to rank them as that's like picking out your favorite child, but they all get my attention whenever they are working on something.

Short, short list: Neal Adams, and JB - when he's writing as well.  Otherwise, it's not that it's a "won't buy", just not an automatic purchase.

Alex Toth
John Byrne
Paul Grist

There are many other artists that I love and buy *most* of their work, but these are the ones I never pass up.

I buy any comic JB draws.

The same goes for Stan Sakai.

I used to buy everything Alan Davis drew until Marvel no longer felt like Marvel to me. His artwork is beautiful, and his writing very underrated.

Garcia Lopez did some work recently in the Batman wedding issue and Action 1000 (as far as I know).
