Disneyland is considered more of a "local" park than Disney World. From June 1st through August 25th, Disneyland blocked out the entire summer for people who bought the Southern California Annual Pass. Non-locals decided to wait a year to go to Galaxy's Edge because they figured it would be extremely crowded with local annual passholders.
Not to mention that the Disney Parks hiked up all their annual passes significantly and made what had been the cheapest option for So Cal Residents renewal only. A lot of the locals were priced out of Disneyland.
