I was going to make a crack about this movie coming across as Warner Bros having an unused FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S script that it had lying around after it failed to get the rights to it, but it turns out that Warner Bros did indeed have the rights to a FNAF movie that was put in turnaround.

I just saw some idiot talking about how the original show was made at "the height of recreational drugs." A critic like that and a film like this deserve each other.

I guessing the use of the Banana Splits theme song during a rampage scene in KICK ASS must have struck a chord with someone...

This is the trailer for the Banana Splits Movie for anyone lucky enough not to have seen it. It's an R rated horror apparently. A wonderful tribute to a childhood memory.

A wonderful tribute to a childhood memory.

F**king up childhood memories is one of the things Hollywood does best. Ennui-engorged writers and directors wanting to mock what they loved as kids--perhaps as a way of showing how "grown up" they are now.

Which they're not, of course.

My childhood memories have just been desecrated. When will any Hanna-Barbera concept/characters be updated properly??

Gee... straight to home video. Who would have thunk it?

Then again, who thought of taking a children's show property from half a century ago, with almost no brand recognition for audiences under 40-ish and making it into a horror film? What nutjob hated the show this much? It must be that the writer hated the show, because I can't fathom anyone thinking the Banana Splits were marketable in this day and age.

The trailer almost seems to be a parody.

Im more and more convinced that this was WBs FNAF movie, and they just slapped on a similar property they owned so that they could not be sued after losing the rights.
