Since I squeaked out a win last year, Matt, I will go first on this week and all the odd weeks.

Personally shocked by Luck's retirement.  He did have a miserable 2017 shoulder injury but he'd made it all the way back and was quite effective playing all 16 games last season.  2018 was his best statistical year (98.7 QBR and 67.3% completion rate, both easily career highs), he's only 29, right in his prime and he just won comeback player of the year!   High ankle sprains are a bitch but I'm surprised he wasn't willing to try to give it a little more time.   Also kind of surprised the Chargers are only 3.5 point favorites from some oddsmakers at home against the Colts; Jacoby Brissett had all of two yards passing last year.  Obviously the Colts hope to shore up that QB situation with a trade but it's going to be chaos for a while.

Anyway... I'll take the Bears over the Packers.  Figure out the rest when I get back from vacation in early September.

Just going to get this one out of the way right now and figure out the rest later:

Thursday, 9/5

  • Packers at Bears

With that defense, I honestly do not see the Bears losing many games this year.  They're going to be better than last year.

Thursday, 9/5

  • Packers at Bears - Aaron Rogers has broken many Bears fans hearts over the years. Why not on opening night?

Sunday, 9/8

  • Rams at Panthers - I really wanted to pick the Panthers, but don't know which Cam will show up.
  • Titans at Browns - I'm not buying the hype. The Browns will win games, but no playoffs
  • Chiefs at Jaguars - I really believe the Chiefs will make it to the Super Bowl
  • Ravens at Dolphins - It's going to be  LONG season in Miami.
  • Falcons at Vikings - I believe Minnesota has the talent to make it to the NFC Championship
  • Bills at Jets - The Jets may surprise a few teams this season
  • Redskins at Eagles - Eagles will win the NFC East. Washington will be in the basement.
  • Colts at Chargers - Chargers are my dark horse to win the SuperBowl.
  • Bengals at Seahawks - Seahawks in a rout.
  • Lions at Cardinals - It's going to be a rough time for Kyler Murray this season
  • Giants at Cowboys - Eli leads an upset in Dallas
  • 49ers at Buccaneers - Bruce Arians will make Winston into a decent QB this season.
  • Steelers at Patriots - I hate both teams

Monday, 9/9

  • Texans at Saints - Drew Brees leading the MVP race early.
  • Broncos at Raiders - Both teams will play for last place in their division this season

Well, you know the saying: a journey of a thousand miles begins with one bad Thursday night pick.  So here goes.

  • Packers at Bears - My lucky quarter says Chicago has this.  Or my unlucky quarter has lied to me.  We'll know more later.

Thursday, 9/5

  • Packers at Bears - Always a tough pick for since I'm a Viking.  Can both lose?  ;)  I'm going with the Bears at home under a second year coach and staff over the Packers on the road under a first year/first time HC.
