And then we get Johnson comparing himself to the Hulk here.

He states, "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets. Hulk always escaped, no matter how tightly bound in he seemed to be - and that is the case for this country. We will come out on 31 October and we will get it done."

Not sure I'd have chosen a character who often left a trail of devastation where as one to emulate...

This is why I sometimes feel like I've been sucked into the bottommost pit of Hell.

Growing up, I had to tolerate derision from my classmates and contemporaries (and not a few adults) who thought comics were not only for kids, but for DUMB kids.

Other-media adaptations tended to be on the cheap. Superheroes especially were for comedy, for mocking.

Then, a few of decades back, things started to around. Comicbook characters were not automatically to be laughed at. Serious interpretations became acceptable, even expected. So now, superhero movies, superhero TV shows are all the rage. Comic characters become points of cultural reference.

And nothing that's being done with them has anything to do with the characters I know and love. Theaters are full of superhero movies--and I don't want to see ANY of them!!!

And regarding Mr. Johnson's comparison... this is done as a political tactic to lighten things up a bit, and that's okay.

But it should be behind a serious and straight discussion or answer. It should NOT be the entire message! Someone who is running a country MUST be honest and open to their constituents; it's a responsibility to them. Granted, there are matters that should not be discussed, due to national security or some other legitimate reason; but it's become the M.O. Lie and obfuscate, and let the dirt eaters just continue shambling along? It's too common these days in countries that should know better.

Boris is a fucking embarrassment but sadly his polling is going up. If there was an election today he would win with a decent majority. He is indeed the 'Britain Trump'. I despair.
