Was [Gruenwald] responsible for "Blackagar Boltagon"?

•••

He was. And with zero consultation with the FF editorial office.

I always thought comic books took the notion of aptronyms a little far but Blackagar Boltagon !!! How silly is that ??? The chances of it all to correspond to something meaningful in English !!

And there was, as I recall, Medusalith.....

He really should have been at DC.

As far as my extensive google searching has shown, I am the only Bradley Monje.  I did find a Bradette Monje though.  Completely different spelling, and the opposite gender from me.

Did Gruenwald ever actually try to work at DC?

I’m not the animator/creator of Rocko's Modern Life.

Though, we live in the same town, and we both do art.  He’s a lil’ older, and though I went to the cooler junior college in town, I also did art jobs for his JC’s school paper.  Round town I occasionally get the, “Are you THE Joe Murray?”  Which in my head of course I am, but I guess I amn’t!

I always get a little chuckle when I watch Westworld.

Best character name ever, some say: LINK

Edited to correct unfathomable problems with the link :)

I'm not the Los Angeles FC soccer coach.
I'm not the blues singer.
I'm not the childbirth doctor.
I'm not the U.S. Navy frigate.
But I am the basketball historian and author.

Since she is married, Marvel's website gives her name as... (deep breath) Medusalith Amequelin-Boltagon. Which I'm sure it says on all of the legal documents she signs...

Brian, Mark Gruenwald began his career in comics with an extensively researched, highly-speculative fanzine called Omniverse, whose existence attracted the eye of Marvel editor Roy Thomas and helped lead to the creation of "What If?"

Omniverse styled itself "the journal of fictional reality" and concerned itself with issues of parallel realities, alternate timelines, and continuity questions galore. The first issue had a long article on DC's Super-Sons which were a burr under the saddle of many a DC fan, since the best answer the lettercols were giving as to their place in the timeline was "Superman and Batman have many adventures we don't see. This is one of them we haven't seen until now." In which the heroes are married and have teenage boys. Yeah. That... fits right in as an "untold adventure." :-)

Gruenwald posited that since the Earth-2 backstories for the Golden Age versions don't entirely line up, nor do the origins for the characters themselves from that time, that there must be a third alternate Earth for the Superman and Batman who actually kicked off the franchises, the Superman with the scoop-neck collar and gladiator boots and the Batman with the flared ears and purple gloves. THESE must be the true fathers of the Super-Sons, despite what their appearances say in the comics themselves...

You have to admire the fervor, but really, I am SO glad Gruenwald stayed over at Marvel. You guys can have him.
