( or Clark Kent unglassesed). Just saw a tweet that shows in an upcoming issue Superman tells Jimmy he's really Clark. Thanks, Bendis.

Even the execution of it is lame.

A bald man who thinks it's unrealistic that  someone with the powers of Superman would ever waste time pretending to be a normal human being. Where have I seen that before?

I'm not up to date, but wasn't there a story swirling around that he was going quit being Clark Kent? I guess this is it.

DC's comics are $4.00 now? Are they still putting out their main books twice a month?

Dumb idea if it's going to be the "status quo".

After the debacle that was the new 52, Dan Jurgens and Peter Tomasi gave us a great Superman again.

Bendis just does his fan wank stuff again. I'm out.

Bendis said something to the effect that if Clark gives up being "a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet" then it opens up the possibility for "a thousand new and different Superman stories."

Sure, Brian. But what if those thousand different stories are all crap?

Yeah, I don't approve. It means Clark never gets to have any semblance of a normal life. He's "on duty" as Superman 100% of the time, and that's it.

So now he may as well be Wonder Woman or Thor or any other character who lost their civilian identity (admittedly without losing the "core" of the character in those cases -- those were just the first two that came to mind).

Mr. Byrne... that was sarcasm, wasn't it? :P

Red kryptonite. It's GOTTA be red kryptonite.

Sure, the hot writer FOTM gets to write whatever he wants. My question is... where the damn editor on this? Who at DC POSSIBLY thought it was a good idea???

It appears to be true, a permanent change in the status quo (until the line is rebooted again, anyway) and a bad idea.
I guess it's about the notion of "secret identities" being less credible in this age of no-privacy, where facial recognition software and body language analysis can peel back the protection of a mask... but that doesn't mean a foundational trope of superhero fiction should be tossed aside.
