This particular one is fanfic using clips from the DISCOVERY series.

The actual SHORT TREKS is a series on CBS AllAccess of little short
films revolving around Discovery crew members.

They did a reasonable enough job of a modern take on the original Enterprise. In fact it's perhaps the best thing Discovery's actually done.

Time will tell if the positive reception garnered by Anson Mount's Captain Pike might actually lead to another show. There's certainly been rumblings about it.

(I have mixed feelings about that prospect. As I like him, but don't know if I'd trust the producers to do a show in that time period, given Discovery's first two seasons.)

Mount was absolutely spectacular as Pike.

I didnít buy Mount as Pike, but what little I saw evoked a Kirbyesque Reed Richards.

(Which makes three out of three Pikes I've cast as Reed--Jeffrey Hunter, Bruce Greenwood and now Mount.)

Mount was superb as Pike.   I am not as sold on their version of Spock or Number One.   But I would like to see a Captain Pike show.

I looked at some of the comments following the trailer for S2 on YouTube. I was amused to note one posterís concern that Pike and Spock appearing here might cause continuity problems.
