Today they closed down the library system I work at.
--------------------------------------------------------
Whereas in the UK city where my partner works, the library is about the only council building that is staying open. Seeing as it's virtually an extra emergency service with the poor folk she has to deal with, the chances of her not catching it and passing it on to someone who might be high risk (me) seems low.

Very powerful video from Eleven Films.... wanted to share for those who haven't seen it:

"....dedicated to medical personnel and first responders”... great message.

This video is not only accurate but at the same time (obviously) sad, at the lack of leadership and management skills from someone so powerful.

-C!

If you don't subscribe to THE DAILY, a five day a week podcast from the NY Times, you should.  It's free and has been amazing for years.  Today's episode was particularly heartbreaking.  They interview a doctor from the heart of the epidemic in Italy.  What they are facing, the choices they've had to make, and the warning for the US (estimated to be 10-14 days out from Italy) makes it an absolutely "must listen".

Hi from Hong Kong. Hope you guys are all OK considering
the situation. It's just a bad moment to overcome.

I can tell you from experience, social distancing is
really efficient to help ease the pressure on the
medical sector, so do it.

Be safe everybody

I work in sports broadcasting, so my whole industry is shut down at the moment. No problems social distancing here.

JB, from working at home for some many years, what tips do you have?  I and others are used to putting in a weekend or a few hours at night working at home, but it's quite different to do so every day, 8-10 hours a day.

One of the cornerstones of my solitary existence is daily trips to various restaurants and grocery stores.

Oops.

We're now on total lock down.  Not just San Fran.  Not just LA.  The entire state of California.  First in the union to institute mandatory "stay at home" measures statewide.

Crazy times.

Just listened to a recorded message on my answering machine. Our local mayor listing all the places closed down as of today—theaters, bare, restaurants, etc. A group that stood out were various personal grooming locations, barbers and beauty shops and the like.

We are gonna get shaggy!!

I don't know how I'm going to get  by without my biweekly hair cut.

Oh, wait... I use a washcloth for that now... :(

Support your local restaurants by ordering takeout.
I've had a few in my area already close down.

Last night the governor of Pennsylvania initiated the closure of all "non-life sustaining" businesses in the state...if I get caught working after midnight on Saturday, I could be subject to a fine or forfeiture of my licenses...

I work for a title insurance company, doing residential and commercial real estate purchases and refinances...for now, anyway...

I never expected the end of the world to be so fucking tedious...
