I just finished rereading STAR TREK: ROMULANS, PAWNS OF WAR. Wow. I forgot just how good this book is! JB was really firing on all cylinders with this one. From the Klingon's political maneuverings to the way the space battles were handled to the amazing art (including O'Grady's coloring), this tale had everything necessary to be a page turner! The only thing that threw me for a second was the sudden appearance of the ________ near the end of the book.

I have the individual issues somewhere upstairs in the attic, but it was easier to put my hands on the neat trade paperback I keep on a shelf downstairs. It's well worth the purchase if you've never read the story.

*I tried using the forum's search function before starting this thread since I'm sure this story has been previously discussed, but it wouldn't work for me.

Tolkien referred to THE LORD OF THE RINGS as “a tale that grew in the telling”. I know what he meant! Starting as a single issue one-off story for ALIEN SPOTLIGHT, my “Romulan Saga” just kept growing and growing.

I've never been the biggest Star Trek fan (sorry!) but I agree I really enjoyed this series.

The world would be much improved, Mark, if there were more people like you--willing to give something a shot even if they aren't big fans.

(Publishers must take a great deal of blame for the negative mentality, of course. Encouraging almost pathological brand loyalty and even genre loyalty.)

I missed all the drawn Star Trek issues. I followed JB’s thread when he
started the photo stories. I then started to buy the photo issues when
they came out. Brilliant, brilliant work.

I had a massive need to hunt down the big trade collection of all the
drawn issues.

The standouts for me were Crew & the Romulus saga & just how
everything dovetails together - even with carry over to New visions.

What a muppet I had been.

That's what led me to this forum, looking online if there were more information on the old Romulan Dreadnought in the ALIEN SPOTLIGHT.
