Great, prototypical character actor who mainly played the same character type again and again (sometimes a good guy sometimes not) but he was always a pleasure to watch. I hate always wondering if a death like this is COVID-19 related; in this case it was apparently natural causes.

So sorry to learn of this. A long time favorite.

There was a time that he seemed to be in just about everything. I probably remember him most for the small-town sheriff who pushes around the wrong guy in First Blood, but he was also truly scary as John Wayne Gacy in To Catch a Killer. In plenty of other films I've enjoyed, of course. F/X: Murder By Illusion was another one I remember with affection.

Very sad news. Whatever movie it was, Dennehy would walk in and make it watchable.

I loved him in SILVERADO - he blends into a great ensemble piece, holding it
together as a heavy without calling too much attention to the performance
until the end.

Sad to hear.

Great role player.

And honestly, 85% of the reason I watch FIRST BLOOD is for his performance.

Hes had a recurring role in THE BLACKLIST for the last few years that
has been really enjoyable.

(Doug, I think you're confusing Mr. Dennehy with the late Brian Keith.)

An actor's actor.  Gave any world he populated more credibility just by being there.  Wish I could have seen him onstage.

Shaun you're right!
I used to confuse them all the time.

I'll edit that.

Great actor.

Always watchable whether he was playing the heavy, the hero or just a regular guy.

For me his stand out roles were Will Teasle in "First Blood", Cobb in "Silverado" and his really creepy and terrifying performance as John Wayne Gacy in "To Catch a Killer".

An actor I would loved to have seen on stage, where he had a vast range of roles as well.
