Just a service announcement: While finally sharing Star Trek with my
youngest, I found the original episodes in un-remastered condition, streaming
at Amazon Prime. I had not been able to find anything but the "Re-Mastered"
series for a long time.

Ahhh...

Such a pleasure to not worry about what grotesque digital effect will appear
next.

I didn't realize how disturbing I found those new shots until they were gone.
It's like a bad house-guest finally decided to leave.

Great news, thanks for the heads-up, Mark!

What really gets my goat these days is that, much like the STAR WARS Special Editions, every time there's a new TREK documentary on TV or online, they always show footage of the remastered effects!  Are they legally bound to do so??  Truly aggravating.

Happily, I have them on DVD, but I am very pleased they are available once again to a wider audience!

Now, now John, isn’t that “cultural appropriation”?
In so far as Canada could be said to have a culture.

Last year I bought all three seasons of Star Trek on three dvd sets. It has all the episodes in its original format and remastered, so you can choose which version you want to watch. I like that option.

I probably have that same set as you Bill.
There's a toggle function where you can go back and forth as you're watching and see both versions. I'll use it once in a great while to cement my preference for the originals.
