Wanna see some EPIC looting?
Check out your local museums.
So the attempt to shift the focus of the protests from “outrage over police brutality, corrupt police, murder and racism” to “I hate it when people steal TVs and Nikes” has apparently taken hold.
The country was founded on civil unrest and rioting. Americans riot for the darnedest reasons.
Police murders and unarmed black man while handcuffed? Let’s riot!
The Celtics lost a heartbreaker in Game 7? Let’s riot!
The rioting in my opinion is being hyped up both by purposeful agitators on the ground and among the protestors (including some cops) and political forces behind the scenes. GOP politicians are making it a point to publicly make EVERY conversation about the protests into a screed about “thugs” “lawlessness” “vandalism” “looting” And Trump is being gassed up to react accordingly.
Donald Trump doesn’t want a race war. He NEEDS a race war.
Because the tea leaves are saying that his ass is going to lose to Joe Biden and if that happens his protection from the law as President is over.....and his fat ass might go to prison.
Since the economy is shot and unlikely to improve significantly by the fall, he has nothing to taut to make a case for reelection. And since his attempts to start wars overseas have largely failed he is turning the unrest here at home into just the kind of racial wedge he used to get elected in the first place. Only this time it comes with big doses of “military strongman” posturing because he wants to be seen as a wartime president.
The unrest in the wake of George Floyd's murder has put a bomb in Trumps hands. I believe the hardcore Trump supporters (the gun toting, radical types) look at this as their chance to light the fuse on his behalf.
