With all the unrest that is happening, I thought this to be very interresting:


I heard stories back in the 90's that there were still individuals that were collecting Civil War pensions. But in 2020?

It shows how compressed time is.

She was 90; her dad was 84 when she was born. But it's so true, the "ancient history" of the United States is not many lifetimes ago. I think they linked Washington to Obama in the space of six presidents' lifetimes.

James K Polk was born while Washington was alive.
William McKinley was born in Polk’s lifetime.
Dwight Eisenhower was born in McKinley’s lifetime.
Trump was born before Ike died.

President John Tyler Grandson has passed.

Considering he was in office 175 years ago, I find this quite interesting.

And John Tyler still has another surviving grandson, so until this two grandchildren were alive 175 years later, which is mind boggling.

Very cool illustration of the compression of time there, Michael - kudos. I'll be sharing that with my students when discussing the upcoming election / how quickly time passes / overlaps, etc.
