My grandmother was 47 when my mother was born (her third and final child), so I don't think it's any stretch at all to have a 16-year-old with a mother who could be 55 years old (or even older).  And his mother could very easily have a mother 15 years older (70).

Sure, Ditko drew her even older looking than that, but for her to be as active as she is now I don't see how she could older than.70, so I'd go with that.

Ditko either tasked himself or was tasked to draw Aunt May and Uncle Ben elderly. It's much easier to show this by going more towards the aged end of that spectrum.

Sometimes I would think that Aunt May was actually one of his parents Aunt (by marriage). After all you wouldn't call someone Great Aunt May, you would just say Aunt May.

How far along in the series did they go before starting to delve into Peter's parents and their relationship to May and Ben?

FWIW, Aunt May and Uncle Ben were "recycled" from Strange Tales #97 (June 1962), published two months prior to AF15.

I wonder of cousin Linda ever writes? Maybe Namor could drop off a message to May.

Hmm. Thor won't age, and of course, neither will Hercules. Wonder Man and the Vision likely won't either.

I wonder if the Hulk or the Thing will age? Bruce and Ben undoubtedly would, but since they were so radically changed... it makes me go "Hmm."

It’s been established that Ben does not age in Thing form I believe.

More navel gazing. All this springs from worrying about those fans who want "real time", or at least SOME time, to pass. They want the characters to age, so ways are sought to get around it.

(Someone suggested, long ago, that all the radiation those early Marvel characters soaked up not only prevented THEM from aging, but also, by exposure, all their supporting cast. So there would be these pockets of ageless people all over Manhattan.)

Mr. Byrne, you drew a series of books when the Fantastic Four WAS aging, due to a Skrullian aging ray, which was their version of a death penalty.

That was why I was hoping to get your opinion. Myself, I can barely conceive the Thing getting old, save perhaps for bricks falling off. I don't think Propecia is gonna help THAT one! :P

Drew, but did not write. Strictly art robot--save that it was my idea to have Reed lose the ability to keep his limbs solid as he aged.

Remember that story well.   The conclusion actually de-aged Reed, Sue and Ben a bit and it indicated that their powers had been boosted by the process.  An early attempt to explain why the characters weren't aging along with the readers.  Curiously, Johnny didn't get the de-age treatment since he hadn't been zapped with the old ray.

Made my young mind wonder at the time if Johnny had become older than the others as a result, or at least older than Sue.
