Claremont has skills that can definitely add to a story....it's just that ofttimes he adds *too much* of it!

It seems as though CC may have pulled back a bit by the time he and JB reunited for TENTH CIRCLE. Am I remembering that correctly?

That was the deal. Mike Carlin wanted a Claremont/Byrne “reunion” so I suggested a plan I’d had before: I plot and pencil it, Chris scripts it, and I don’t have to look at it.

JB, was the design of page 15 always without panel borders? I had to pop back to page 14 to realize Vuk’s retelling started the same way. I’m curious about your design process for this page. It reminds me of that If I I Had A Time Machine commission from 2012.

••

There were panel borders when I did the layouts, so I'd know where to stop. When the drawing of the page was finished I erased them.

Reading it now, I definitely feel "less is more" when it comes to the word salad packed onto that older page.

Excess verbiage—of which I have been guilty from time to time—has the effect of slowing. things. down. Which can be good, sometimes, but surely not in action scenes.
