This kid running marvel is a nostalgia machine. To the point of absurdity.

Hm. No artists worked on those stories, apparently.

....”the collection will include an 20-page prequel story for Days of
Future Past, written by Claremont and drawn by Larroca.”

This doesn’t seem right. And I love Larroca’s stuff.

Positively Orwellian. Who's responsible?

The only thing that should be behind a cover like that would be copies of Chris Claremont's typed words, scripts and plots (with none of his co-written plots).

Instead, it's a massive land-grab for credits he only played a part in and a strange singling out of John Byrne for erasure. Even the promotional stuff goes out of its way to give Jim Lee and Frank Miller credit for their art, without mentioning Byrne anywhere.

"Dark Phoenix saga" and "Days of Future Past" are the bulk of this collection, but list no collaborator -- while going so far to muddy the water further that they reprint what is called "Original Days of Future Past notes and script by Chris Claremont."

That's quite a trick to have "original notes" for a story he didn't originate.

I wonder if these "notes" include his original response to the idea of a Sentinel story, ("Sentinels are lame!")

That is profoundly misleading. What a way to present something that Claremont had no hand in plotting and which would have never been attempted if his initial response was listened to.

Looking at the rest, X-Men 94-95 aren't purely Chris' either, in as much as he was forced to kill Thunderbird against his wishes. Now he's the originator of that too?

I'll happily let him take all the credit for the utterly incomprehensible writing in "X-Men 1, The world’s best-selling comic book of all time, illustrated by Jim Lee" -- but I think credited co-writer, Jim Lee, would be surprised to hear it.

What an embarrassing sluice-drip of mis-attributed content to find behind such a grand, self-celebrating cover.

I can only hope this project was not supervised in any way by Chris Claremont-- tho his personalized signature on the front might suggest otherwise. I hope fans do not pre-order enough and that this bad re-packaging idea is soon forgotten.

I'm not sure this has much to do with nostalgia.  I think the classic stuff is the cash cow that they can't stop milking.

A prequel to “Days of Future Past.” Backstory on Senator Kelly? That’s the part that was his.

How did he get John Byrne’s notes?

Basically, this is a deluxe edition so permanent, X-Men fans can literally take it to their graves.

I'd buy it, but then I'd have to CGC it.

I don't think I can afford that.

Marvel can be really cheeky and put out a John Byrne collection that also reprints "Dark Phoenix Saga" and "Days of Future Past".

Speaking as someone who currently has 50+ projects backed on Kickstarter, I don't understand why everyone needs to have a crowdfunded project these days.

I wondered what had happened to 'Marvel Made'. Now I know and no longer care.

The latter is certainly true, but it’s not really fair to say Chris had NO hand in the plotting. As noted before, he came up with Senator Kelly.

This reminds me of something. Chris used to sell copies of his typed plots at cons, and when it came to X-MEN, which were “telephone plots,” a friend (who shall remain nameless) was convinced Chris was writing full “plots” after the issues were finished. Happily, I never reached that level of paranoia, tho it will be interesting to see what this volume contains!
