What a notion! I second that!

@Eric: I did did get the Hobbit-hint --- just slow on seeing the bigger possibilities until David laid it out for me.
Still, JB is not a machine. I'll just be thankful he is sharing all these wonderful gifts and not greedily wish for more.
I really like the fine lines of mountains. A nice dynamic contrast. No where in the whole image do I get the sense that a single line was laid down hesitantly or out of place. Pristinely clean and fluid. Amazing.

Why ask for more?

I like the way the snow hangs on the pines. I wonder how exactly it would be colored so we could still see the green instead of just black and white.

The curious thing about this drawing is how expansive it is - yet cozy at the same time.

John Byrne does a Wolverine Origin story? I need to sit down and let this all sink in. 12 year old Paul couldn't handle this information. Even 49 year old Paul is reeling from shock.

… that looks like such a John Byrne establishing shot ••
Are you crazy? It's not a 3/4 shot from an upper corner of a room!
*******
That made me laugh out loud.
I hope Walt sees this one...

JB, it may be that I'm used to seeing your work inked and in color, but there have been so many examples in ELSEWHEN in which I believe I'm seeing penciling tricks/techniques that I never recall seeing before in your work. Am I just seeing what has always been under the inks or are you intentionally doing new things? I sit amazed continually.

About the only thing I do now that was not so much in evidence when I was penciling primarily for other people to ink, is that I sometimes roll my pencil over, and draw with the side of the lead. The foreground trees in this piece were done that way. This is distinct, obviously, from using the side of the lead to fill in large areas.
