A wierd question occurred to me. Lots of American voters not wanting a second Trump term said they were prepared to move to another country if he won. I can easily imagine these would be Canada, Australia, countries in Europe, etc. But what of Trump supporters ? What country would they move to if they wanted to escape Dem-run USA ?

There's something of an embargo on Americans in most countries, at the moment. I was asked if I would go "back" to Canada if Trump won a second term, and I said it wasn't really an option. (Or something I would want to do!)

And now, my mean joke:

Joe Biden... our time, waiting for Kamala.

It occurs to me that our national diversity is at least partially represented in the names of our former president and soon-to-be veep. Barak? Kamala? What would the Founding Fathers have said? Best perhaps that we can never know!

(I'm reminded of when Lola Falana had a summer show on one of the networks. She introduced herself, saying her name meant "Debbie".)

You're not the first one to say that "joke", JB. And it may well be right.

Speaking of the line of succession, is there anything preventing Joe from resigning the Presidency to Kamala a week after being sworn in? I don't think so, but it got me thinking about winning the election with one person and handing the Presidency to another. I don't think America could have elected Kamala Harris as President over Trump and it isn't a stretch to think Joe Biden was the best choice because he could actually win over Trump. But there is a "to do" list a mile long for America to put things right nationally and internationally as well as plugging all the holes to prevent the abuse of US political tradition that isn't explicitly written down as law. I could be wrong, but the four years of damage done to US politics might take more than four years to set right so a younger President might need to be in office.

You seem to think a President has to actually do all the
work. He will have a team to make these changes and
Kamala is a big part of that team. All he really needs to
do is sign off on that. Kamala can follow up with two
terms of her own.

The U.K. regularly changes leader between elections - Margaret
Thatcher, Tony Blair, David Cameron & Teresa May all lost their
positions between elections.

What seems like only a few years ago, Morgan Freeman played the President in a disaster movie called DEEP IMPACT (1998). This was before Barak Obama, and my joke at the time was that the true science fiction of the piece was imagining a Black president any time soon. Who knew?

Now, we see the prospect of a Black WOMAN president.

C'mon, America! Make it happen!

The advantage of a parliamentary system, where the PM is the head of the party in power, not a separate entity unto him/herself. I have often said the US would benefit from such a system.
